Thursday Thirteen

I really want Maggie to learn to always find the bright side of things, and generally focus on the positive. Yesterday could have been considered a bit of a challenge, after we got a major flat tire on our way to lunch. After waiting for the tow truck and heading to the tire shop, we ended up finally getting lunch at 2PM, and never did get to go summer clothes shopping for her as planned! So today I'm including 13 things (several actually said out loud) that were positive for us yesterday.

  1. We were on a surface street (not on the expressway) when we had our blow-out.
  2. Maggie had the window down and heard the weird noise of the flat tire right away.
  3. We were just before a driveway/parking lot!
  4. It was a nice day - not too hot, and not rainy or yucky.
  5. Mommy didn't damage the wheel by driving on it.
  6. The parking lot had a couple closed store-fronts so we could park with lots of room around our car, making it easy to change the tire for the tow truck, and easy for the two truck to see us.
  7. The parking lot had several open businesses - including a Jo-Ann's where we were able to use the bathroom and get a magazine to pass the time.
  8. A nice Oakland County sheriff stopped by to check that we were okay.
  9. The tow truck came much faster than promised!
  10. Our spare tire was in good condition.
  11. We found a pack of gummy worms to snack on in mom's purse!
  12. A nice lady stopped by to make sure we were okay.
  13. The tire shop is next door to an Arby's.
Yay for a lucky day! <3

  1. Seeing Matt again and meeting his wife Diana!
  2. Every time Maggie says, "I was wishing for..."
  3. Watching Jack push the accelerator button on his ride on toy..as he walks along beside it.
  4. When Jack throws his car down the toy ramp and then grins and claps for himself.
  5. Sugar cookies!
  6. My new heated mattress pad <3
  7. Hurting for my sensitive girl as she cried over not seeing her elf-on-the-shelf every day anymore.
  8. Listening to Maggie dance to the music in her room with her new cd player.
  9. Letting hubby sleep in til he wakes up happy.
  10. Having a few minutes to straighten my office since there isn't so much running around every day while we're on 'vacation'.
  11. Feeling the love.
  12. Anticipating the promise of a whole new year.
  13. Staying up late each night knowing we have no early pressures in the morning.

Thursday Thirteen

Since I obviously can't find the great ideas that are in my head in the shower, or when I'm driving...I'll try to list 13 ideas for blog posts here:
  1. I hate cabbage.
  2. Those funny, hard to say story things (that I can't even think of the name) - what they are, how I heard about them, and why I want to learn one. Someday.
  3. My own reviews of some of my favorite Dove Chocolate Discoveries' products.
  4. The importance of home parties in a home party plan business.
  5. The many, many uses of Dove's Martini Mix.
  6. My memories of the circus. I keep meaning to write this one....

  10. My 12 days of Christmas wish list (I think this will be my third or fourth year with these posts :) ).
  11. What I'd do with a million dollars (hey, dreams are good).
  12. What we should do as a family the day after Thanksgiving (have to write this one pretty soon...).
  13. When will hubby get his Subaru fixed (or other options) (hey, this was his suggestion, not mine..)

Thirteen things I LOVE about Sesame Street. And I watch a lot of Sesame Street. When we're not watching it on PBS, I'll also sometimes turn it on from the Netflix for Jack. So, my thirteen things - which may or may not be my most favoritest, since it's late and I'm writing under pressure...
  1. Several of the re-made pop songs to teach cool concepts, like when Feist is on and sings 1-2-3-4
  2. The Count, who isn't on every episode, but I love when he finds the number of the day with his organ.
  3. Bert & Ernie's Great Adventures. Especially the one where they take care of the plant store. And the one with the car you have to sing to (I told you I've seen too much Sesame Street!).
  4. Abby Cadabby's Flying Fairy School. Where's Gonnigan? He's gone again.
  5. How captivated Jack is by Elmo's World.
  6. Snuffleupagus. Who never gets enough air time.
  7. The worm grand prix.
  8. The part of Elmo's World when Elmo asks a baby about the word of the day. And the baby just sits there, being a baby.
  9. The episode with the elephant getting stuck everywhere.
  10. Dancing with Triangles!
  11. Outdoor Nature Survival Guy (at least I think that's his name).
  12. Super Grover
  13. The opening song. Any version. It makes me happy just to hear it :)

Thirteen reasons I should blog more regularly:
  1. So you'll keep coming back, knowing there will be something new ;)
  2. My life will be easier to review for myself by just checking my blog posts.
  3. It makes me take more pictures, to highlight the whole thing.
  4. There are opportunities for income and product reviews by being a regular blogger!
  5. Writing regularly helps me clear my mind.
  6. Writing regularly keeps me thinking (busying my mind? Huh.).
  7. It is an outlet for me, so I don't yap my poor husband's ear off every night. Ideally, anyway.
  8. It makes it easier for my husband to keep up with our day-to-day lives when he's traveling for business.
  9. I've come this far (10+ years?)...why stop now?
  10. It's another venue to promote my chocolate business.
  11. I've found out it's something besides Facebook that keeps me in touch with some friends (say hi!).
  12. I actually have more interesting thoughts than I frequently blog about, and by getting on to write regularly, I may get in the habit of expressing these more interesting thoughts. ;)
  13. Because you love me!! (Right?)

Thursday Thirteen

I've always been a fan of lists, and the Thursday Thirteen, so I suppose I've sort of decided to bring it back on my own. Even if I'm the only one ;)

Today's Thursday Thirteen is thirteen things I've accomplished recently. Just my own little 'done' list instead of 'to-do,' if you will.

  1. Sent invites for Maggie's 'friend' birthday party.
  2. Sent invites for Maggie's 'family' birthday party.
  3. Wrote (half by hand!) and mailed postcard invites for all four of my chocolate parties next weekend, plus the one scheduled for the weekend after that.
  4. Finally made some hostess/booking calls and team member check-in calls!
  5. Booked my flight for Dove's National Conference!
  6. Helped clear a road blocked by a downed tree (after a storm on Tuesday).
  7. Got the beach towel that was used to wrap all of my necklaces during the move (yes, last May) off of my dresser and back into use as, well, a beach towel!
  8. Remembered to buy stain remover, and (I think!) removed the paint stains from Maggie's white shirt.
  9. Sewed the button back on one of my previously favorite pairs of shorts.
  10. Hubby and I cleaned the master bath.
  11. I helped Maggie sort through her stuffed animals, and put half of them in a storage bag in the basement.
  12. I made substantial progress on straightening my office.
  13. I started exercising a bit more often again!

Thursday Thirteen

I'm just going for pie-in-the-sky today. I'd really like to get a lot of stuff done, and even started straightening a bit in the office, but if I could snap my fingers and have 13 things magically done, here's the first 13 things I'd name (quickly, just off the top of my head...).
  1. Jewelry shelves done so I could hang up all my new necklaces that I received today :)
  2. Desk cleared off.
  3. Chocolate literature sorted and expired stuff thrown out.
  4. Car washed.

  10. Find a dresser for Jack's room and put his clothes away accordingly.
  11. Clear off the top of my dresser (including discarding old/unused jewelry).
  12. Start hanging pictures/artwork on the wall up the stairs.
  13. Clean off the kitchen counter that collects anything assumed to be mine or the kids'.

Thirteen things I'd like to work on in 2012.

  1. Organized call list for the three days I'll work my business each week (to be prepared on Sunday night each week).

  5. Menu-planning.
  6. A schedule for house cleaning.
  7. A schedule for blog posts.

  12. Help Maggie to organize her room (and keep it up!).
  13. Find the iron (hopefully this won't take all year, but I've been looking for a couple weeks already with no luck...
