Sexy Saturday - PSA Edition

Dear Demi Lovato:

Your song, "Give Your Heart a Break," makes me scream at the radio. You say,
"The day I first met you
You told me you'd never fall in love
But now that I get you
I know fear is what it really was"
I realize you're young, but falling for this is complete bullshit. If someone tells you they won't love you, don't walk away - RUN! I don't personally know you, but everyone is at least a little loveable, to the right person. Don't waste your time trying to convince someone to love you. I don't care if they're 'damaged' or someone else hurt them. They are too much trouble for your young heart.

Listening to the words of pop songs today has resulted in more than a few brilliant statements to my kindergarten daughter that she doesn't understand now, but I hope she'll remember anyway. As much as it annoys me to say so, I like the words and sentiment behind Taylor Swift's 'Never, ever, ever getting back together' better than many. But don't make me actually listen to the song again. Please!

Too many people (women especially) want to 'rescue' their man, instead of just enjoying a full life with him. It's hard enough to sustain a successful relationship with someone who wants to be there, please don't try and force one on someone who says he doesn't want it.

Sincerely,

A Concerned Mom and Veteran of a few broken hearts

Sexy Saturday

So it's haircut time for me again. I've been testing myself, and made the effort to blow out my hair all week. In light of this, I've decided I earned my haircut :)

When I got it cut last time, I did a chin length bob. This was a little longer than my wishes, but I was being careful not to offend hubby's sensibilities. He really likes for me to have long hair. When I mentioned to him that I wanted it cut shorter, he actually agreed this time. So I'm going this week for an A-Line Bob (at least that's what the site from Pinterest called it....).

Having a hair cut I like, and feeling like I look attractive, is a huge boost to the sexiness factor, of course. I think that's why I've felt at total cross-purposes with my hair for so long. I like the look and feel of a shorter style, and I feel confident and sexy when I like my haircut. But hubby says he finds longer hair more attractive. Talk about ripping me up - he's the one I most want to find my look sexy, of course.

So we're doing our usual dance. I'm getting it cut, and I know it looks good. But over time it will grow, I'll be too busy to have it cut, and he'll comment on how nice it looks long. While he finds it attractive longer, it makes me feel frumpy. Lather, rinse, repeat.

What are your thoughts on hair? The long mommy-tail certainly has its benefits, but I don't think the sexiness on me is usually one of them. My short hair is less versatile, but that also makes it less hassle for me...

Sexy Saturday - GIVEAWAY CLOSED!

Sometimes, being sexy requires a little effort and planning in advance. 'Sometimes' meaning, well, usually if you have small children. You can try to just plan around their bedtimes and such, but the smaller your children are, the more likely this plan is to backfire at the worst possible moment. Just sayin...

Scheduling and planning for a sitter definitely has a greater likelihood of actually resulting in some magical time together. If you can actually arrange for someone to stay overnight so you and your honey can have a fun night out and some intimate time with just each other, all the better! It's fun to be local tourists sometimes, pretending you don't know where you are and staying at a hotel a mile from home ;)

I would love to plan a whole night or weekend with hubby for something like this. I think the best way to issue the invite (after arranging the surprise sitter, of course) would be to leave something like an erotic book or cd somewhere he'll find it when he's alone, and tucking the invite inside. Once he's reserved the date, what will actually happen can still remain a surprise. If it's been a while since you've had any grown-up time, dinner out and adult conversation may be all it takes to make it an exceptional evening.

If you feel like going the extra mile, consider getting a cheesy adult board game to lend to the suspense and anticipation that evening. Want to make the whole evening about your game? Tell your partner what to wear beforehand and turn it into full-on role play. Planning on carrying out the overnight portion locally? You could totally set up the room before the date even starts. The possibilities are endless!

Sexy Saturday

Wow. I'm sitting here, googling sexy and many variations of sexy, and coming up with big fat nothing to write.

What could top Jensen Ackles, right?

Did you know women are more likely to climax if their feet are not cold? Something to make sure any cover-stealers know...

I even tried looking for a simple sexy quiz, but disturbingly, most 'sexy' quizzes are directed at young girls (or at least girls who are still virgins). That was sort of alarming. Have they also not heard that women peak sexually closer to thirty years of age than thirteen??

Anyway, I didn't want you to think I'd put no effort into this week's post. In reality, I really just didn't do enough, early enough. Maybe I can find more site/products to review?

Let me know if you've got any ideas. :) Please. I'm now feeling un-sexy and pitiful ;)

Sexy Saturday

I first noticed Jensen Ackles in 2001 or 2002 when I loved to watch Dark Angel. Rawr! It was no surprise to find out he's like six years younger than me, born in 1978. And I know we could hang out together, because he loves gummis. I may sell chocolate, but my favorite candy is usually the closest to straight sugar you can get.

This afternoon I finally started watching Supernatural on Netflix at a friend's recommendation because Jensen Ackles is in it. In looking at side-by-side pictures between his Dark Angel days and now, I can see him maturing, but then and now, he's gorgeous and sexy.

Sexy Saturday

So it did. I decided to go with the Seductive Saloon Girl costume (that's exactly the title on the package). Looking at the link now, I'm glad I decided when I did - it's now sold out! I knew the full meaning of the holiday was sinking in for my five-year-old daughter when she brought me a sexy cat costume last night at the costume store. Luckily she choose the floor-length vampire costume. To go with the glow-in-the-dark fangs she got recently.

As much as I am for women's rights and equality, I also don't have any problem with everyone getting a little playful and more, well, sexy for the holiday. I don't think dressing like a hootchie, or having my daughter see me like this, once a year is going to re-direct her career aspirations. I'm sure she still wants to be an acrobat in the circus, or a ninja, or maybe a fairy. But none of it is because I let it all hang out on October 31.

Being able to comfortably play a role (and knowing that it is just a temporary role) can be empowering. Having men ogle me for one night a year does not have to be demeaning. I certainly don't want my daughter to borrow my saloon girl costume any time soon, but I fully expect she will grown into a beautiful woman and wear it, or something like it, eventually.

Sexy Saturday

Whew - just got half the post written and realized there was nothing sexy yet! So this is my re-start ;)

I ready a great book this week - Great-Aunt Sophia's Lessons for Bombshells by Lisa Cach. Although I'm sure this may send a few people running, I have to say I found it hotter than 50 Shades of Grey. Yes, I'm one of the people who didn't really enjoy 50 Shades. Or the second in that series. I'm patiently withholding judgment on the third til after I read it. At least they're quick enough reads that I can get through them anyway. Heavens - I just got terribly off-track again!

Here's the summary from Amazon:
Grace Cavanaugh is hell-bent on proving her Women’s Studies dissertation thesis that beauty only leads to misery. And what better research subject than her great-aunt Sophia, a former B-movie star? Now eighty-five and facing surgery, Sophia has asked Grace for company. . . .
Grace imagines a helpless, lonely old woman, forced to turn to a great-niece she barely knows. Instead she finds the aging diva holding court in a Pebble Beach mansion, oozing a bombshell-itude—arthritis and wrinkles be damned—that captivates every male in sight. To Grace’s dismay, her greataunt decides a perfect distraction would be transforming the frumpy feminist into a femme fatale who purrs for her suitors . . . or devours them. She ordains classes in everything from carb cutting to lingerie, culminating in a challenging final exam. The newly svelte Grace must test her wiles—on both devilishly handsome and morally corrupt Declan and sensitive but painfully awkward Dr. Andrew.
Newly unleashed desires—and the discovery of a closely held family secret— threaten the bookworm-turned-babe’s entire feminist upbringing. Her thesis gone sadly awry, Grace wonders if her great-aunt is right: Will trusting her heart lead her to find beauty in the most unexpected places?
So onto the sexy part. Declan seduces Grace without even touching her the first time. Of course that's something that makes it pretty easy to communicate in a book, and be really steamy with the only thing missing being his real voice.
I loved following Grace's transformation. As I read in my hoodie and jeans, I imagined what it would be like to be taught to be so sexy. Sounded like fun, no matter how liberated she wanted to think she was.

While this book was a sassy, entertaining read, it made today's post because it was sexier than I expected in a pop-fiction time-waster. :)

What's your recommendation for a sexy book?

Sexy Saturday - Halloween Costume Edition

Yay!! My favorite holiday is right around the corner. Who doesn't love dressing up however they want for at least one night a year (depending on your party schedule..) with no excuses?!

Hubby says men love Halloween because so many women dress like sluts since it's finally 'acceptable.' Who knows? I think it's fun to play up my physical attributes while I've still got em. Maybe I'll look into a few sexy costumes. I'm rather liking the saloon girl, if I can find a fitting male costume to complement it. Hubby and I have been watching enough Deadwood that I think it would be a fun night out pretending we're some of those characters :)

It looks like hubby's explanation for Halloween may be holding true. EdenFantasys has six pages of costumes for women, and only one page for the guys. I don't see a guy's costume to match my favorite lady's so far.

Since we both love Halloween, we usually try to have a 'set' of costumes. Last year we were a German couple - hubby had something pretty similar to the picture, and I was a beer girl. Another year I was a ladybug and he was a bug catcher. Once when we hadn't really planned much in advance, we wore our Renaissance faire costumes. I've worn the wench costume without him as well to rave reviews.

One costume we saw friends in last year sort of surprised me. She was Brittney and he was K-Fed. They had lots of fun with it, but she somehow totally pulled off the innocent look Brittney sometimes tries for a lot better than Brittney ever accomplished it. Maybe it's because I know she could never be as...morally questionable... as Brittney ;)

Of course as our family has grown, the cute whole family costumes have caught my eye, but there's something liberating about wearing something your kids shouldn't recognize you in when you go out for date night at least once a year.

What are some of your favorite sexy Halloween costumes?

I'm receiving a gift card from edenfantasys for my objective post. Yay for honest disclosure :).

Sexy Saturday

When you think of sexy lingerie, what stores come to your mind? Unfortunately, Victoria's Secret isn't on my list as much for a while, but the clerk there didn't want to take no for an answer :(

I drove a town or two away yesterday to redeem some Victoria's Secret coupons. I had one for a free pair of panties, and another for $10 off any purchase. Yay! The store closest to me is an 'outlet' and doesn't take any coupons. This already bummed me out a little bit toward them, because some of the other stores in the outlet mall still take their store coupons, but not Victoria's Secret. Whatever.

When I walked into the store a couple towns away, I first found a clerk to make sure I knew where to select my free panties from. She pointed me in the right direction and asked if I had the $10 coupon as well. Heck yeah! She asked if I planned to use that for a discount on a bra. I sadly had to tell her no, they didn't have any bras that fitted my needs. When she asked what size I wore, I told her 'nursing.' Then she suggested one of their styles. I asked if it had hooks at the top. Of course it didn't, but she wanted me to look at it anyway. I finally firmly told her I wouldn't be looking for a bra there for probably another year or more, as I need my son to be able to access his food. She walked away, but I still don't think she got it.

I believe Victoria's Secret test marketed nursing bras in a few places for a while, but I never saw them personally. Sexy nursing bras are hard to find! The two I wear, over and over, for going on four years now, are the most boring things ever. I have one in beige, and the other in black. The styles are identical.

My bewbs used to be one of my most...erm...noticeable features. I suppose they still are, but now more for their function than any degree of sexiness :(

Sexy Saturday

If you read yesterday you already know that I spent some time pondering what I wanted to write for today's Sexy Saturday. I was strongly considering brief bios (and pictures, of course) of some of my favorite leading men. But my hubby had an even better suggestion. When I asked him for an idea, he said, "What about your new haircut?" What about it indeed.

I got my hair cut on Thursday. See, I strongly prefer having short hair, but hubby will be the first to say he prefers it long. I don't care enough about it to piss him off by cutting it, if that makes sense. So it's been growing for a while again. In the past, I've had it as short as a pixie, or a little longer and spiky, or all the stages between there and long. This time I've gone with a modern chin-length bob. (I tried to find a cool picture to put here, but I didn't get one the day the nice lady blew it out for me, and none of the starlet pictures really jumped out at me. So Google it if you're not sure what I mean.)

And what does this have to do with sexy? Everything, I think. I don't think it matters how sexy your partner is if you don't feel sexy about yourself. The thing that can make me feel sassy and sexy in a hurry is a haircut I really like. A new color of lipstick may make you feel a little fiesty for the first few minutes it's on, but it's forgotten before long. Lacy new underthings can also start the day off on a hot note, and even end it there, but during the regular run of the day, it isn't usually predominant in your thoughts. Hair, on the other hand, is always reminding you it's been cut.

Having a few inches taken off of my hair has made it so much more swingy that I hold my head a little differently. I don't have to adjust my hair when I put on a coat or jacket. But even feeling those differences, my favorite thing is catching my reflection in a mirror. There's always that first split second of thinking, "Hey - cute!" and then realizing I'm paying myself the automatic compliment. What a boost!

What's your favorite thing to do to feel sexy? Is it more about the super sexy moment, or feeling like a sexier, more confident person all day long?

Sexy Saturday

In a little more than one month, we'll be celebrating Sweetest Day once again. I'm guessing the third Saturday in October is reserved for Sweetest Day, as this year it falls on October 20. I already know what I'll be doing - going on a local 'Spooktacular Stroll' with all three of my sweeties :) If the stroll through the woods tires the younger two out, maybe there will be time and opportunity for something a little more risque, but we'll have to wait and see.

Are you looking for gift ideas? You can find things ranging from books (fiction or non-fiction: use your imagination), to make-up/fragrances/candles, to toys for use behind closed doors. ;) If the adult sweetie on your list already has all those, they probably need somewhere to stash it! I was just tickled to see the adorable toy storage box until I realized that something so cute would not deter my daughter's curiosity at all!

I think I'd have to have an already immaculate and attractively organized closet to make that fit in ;) Even better plan? I could organize more than just toys by using several of these boxes! The inside is lined with hot-pink satin. What a great way to store scarves, special keepsakes, or holiday accessories that are otherwise collecting dust somewhere?

Has your sweetie been exceptionally deserving of their own day lately? How about filling the box before you even present it to them? Have it safely tucked away and simply present them with the key.

Wow - I'm full of sexy ideas tonight. Don't let my efforts be in vain. Go order the accessories to make your sweetest day fabulous now so they'll arrive in plenty of time for your preparations and a fantastically sexy night on October 20.

Oops! You may have already clicked through and gotten one for yourself, but this box (as indicated by the watermark on the picture) is available through EdenFantasys.

Sexy Saturday!

Comments are now closed.

Only the second Sexy Saturday I've posted, and already we've got a giveaway!

Have you heard of Zestra? Probably not. Zestra is the only clinically tested and proven, all-natural sexual enhancement product for women on the market. Zestra has been recommended by physicians (including Dr. Oz), featured on The View, The Doctors, ABC Nightline, and more.

It's applied topically to a woman's 'naughty bits' (I love that phrase!). The patented blend of botanical oils and extracts work to heighten her sensitivity to touch. If I recall correctly, there used to be something similar at the 'adult' direct sales parties (read: sex toys and such). That's all I'm going to say about that, because my mom reads this blog ;)

Now leaving aside the fact that I've seen about a thousand commercials for Viagra and Cialis while watching grown-up (but not explicit) tv, I have no idea why Zestra is such a well-kept secret! Will you help spread the word? It just could be worth your while!

Want to win your own supply of Zestra and Zestra Glide? I've been offered the chance to give them away (a combined $75 value!). In the comments to this post, just let me know you want to win for one entry. For a second entry, read and comment on another post on this blog (then leave a comment on this post letting me know). Want THREE more entries? Re-post this giveaway on your blog! (Yes, please leave me yet another comment with your link!)

Contest ends in one week (but I'm usually busy on the weekends, so you just got an extra couple of days...) - Monday, September 10 at 9PM ET.

Afraid you won't win, or want to know what you're in for? Get a free trial (just pay shipping).

For more info on the product, visit http://www.zestra.com/.

I'm receiving the product being given away for my objective post. The prize will be sent by the sponsor, not me. I'll provide them with the winner's info. Yay for honest disclosure :).

Sexy Saturday

Sexis - a provocative sex magazine at EdenFantasys.com
I'm feeling a little sassy lately. Don't worry, this will still certainly be a family-friendly blog, but it doesn't have to be sexually explicit to be sexually open, does it?

Several things have brought the subject of sex to the forefront of my thoughts lately. Unfortunately, none of them have brought a smile to my face at the same time. I'd like to try and change that.

Sex should be fun, safe, comfortable and not judgmental. If you want to buy sex toys online, that should be your business (oh, maybe I should have said, I'm family friendly, but still talking to legal grown-ups, hopefully!).

Sex, and sexy, should not be defined by size. A friend of mine posted the picture below on her Facebook a few weeks ago with the disclaimer, "Sorry girls who I offend, but it's the truth." Really? While on the one hand I can agree that skinny is not a requirement to be sexy, I've never been overweight either. Does that mean I'm 'not sexy?' Ha! I hope my husband would disagree if you said that!

Skinny isn't a requirement to being sexy anymore than fat is. Sexy is one of the most individualized qualities a person has (and I do think everyone is sexy, to the right person).

Take one of the latest pop-crazes: Fifty Shades of Grey. I'm not here to argue about its literary merits, but the basic concepts discusses are sexy to some (who are probably out buying collars and random accessories instead of reading my blog!). Luckily the book has been well-enough publicized that those who squirm at the ideas portrayed in the book probably will never accidentally read it. And that's okay. People who love the book and its ideas can be sexy. People who are appalled by the book and its ideas can be sexy too.

And on that note, while still keeping this PG rated, what's sexy to you? What's the first thing you notice about someone you'd consider as a partner, or what makes you feel irresistible and hubba-hubba about yourself as a sexy adult? I'm not asking for any reason besides my own intellectual curiosity. Humor me.

I'm receiving a gift card from edenfantasys for my objective post. Yay for honest disclosure :).
