Thursday Thunks

The real deal...from Thursday Thunks

1. Do you know how to french braid? I understand in theory. But I've never actually done it.

2. Two guys are walking down the street. One drops his hat and reaches down to pick it up, the other kicks him in the ass. Do you laugh? Probably. :D

3. You wake up one morning and dogs are meowing and cats are meowing - what are fish, elephants and crocodiles doing? Meowing, of course.

4. You are going to your high school reunion. What award are you going to win? None. I'll be hiding in the back since I was never sure I should go in the first place.

5. You find yourself stranded on a deserted island. Soon you find a laptop with a lifelong battery & internet connection, then you find a cave with an endless supply of food and a spring of fresh water. A cruise ship comes along to save you - do you get on it? Since it's a cruise ship, maybe.

6. How many shortcuts do you have on your desktop?
A lot.

7. I offer you a pie... the most delicious pie you have ever seen. You either have to eat the entire thing in one sitting or allow me to slam it into your face, which do you choose? Lately, I'd probably eat it.

8. Are you a pen stealer? Nah. I usually like the pen I already have better.

9. A dude from China comes up and offers you german chocolate cake, french fries and a boston cream pie... what color is your car? Red.

10. Sometimes you just have to tap your foot to your favorite song - which tv series season finale are you watching? None of em.

Have a great day. Or not. See you next Thursday.

Thursday Thunks

Check out Thursday Thunks for some thought-provoking questions each week!

1. Name 5 famous people that you wouldn't be you without them. Huh. This is the toughest one of the bunch for me. I've admired different people over time, and I suppose a lot of them have contributed a bit here and there to who I am or how I act/look. But I can't really think of five specific famous people to credit for it.

2. So yeah, did you hear Osama is dead? If you could take any letter out of the alphabet and have it never ever used again, which letter would it be? None of em! I love words, and therefore have to love letters!

3. If you were to swallow a guitar pick, would you tell anyone? Probably. I'm always down for a good story.

4. My tummy hurts. Do you know anyone that eats strange things like toilet paper, chalk or some other off the wall thing that shouldn't be eaten?
Not personally...

5. Whats your favorite kind of noodle?
I'd have to say macaroni, by association. Maggie always orders macaroni and cheese (even when places make it with a noodle other than macaroni - just sayin!).

6. So yeah, back to this Osama stuff. When someone says "the event that everyone will remember where they were when they heard the news", what event do you think of? September 11. Duh.

7. Someone last week mentioned that I don't have to have exactly 10 questions, so should I stop here? That would be fine...

8. Name 5 not-famous people that you wouldn't be you without them. Just five? My mom, my dad, my brother, my best friend from high school, my husband (current, just so there's no confusion), and Maggie...uh-oh, that's already six!

Thursday Thunks

Today's questions are brought to you by the color purple, witches' brooms, the number 800-555-1000, and hootin' anni.

1] We all love snuggly things, right? In your own words, explain how the "X" and "O" became symbols for kisses and hugs! Well, the O is easier because it looks like the circle your arms make. The X is pretty freeform for the pucker of your lips in a kiss. Good enough?

2] Besides eliminating sticks, what would you put in a non-stick pan? I'm usually more concerned with the size of the pan matching my needs than the stick or non-stick-ness.

3] x=y over pi squared. What are your thoughts on crematoriums having discounts on those that die in fires? Makes sense to me! But good luck to their marketing department trying to promote that one!

4] Tongue twisters are fun...but, it's torture to try to say lisp with that "s" in the word. What is your favorite tongue twister? Risque answers get extra credit!I have a hard time talking about Dove's Cappuccino Biscottini during my shows - I hope you don't mean a tongue twister with more than two words!

5] Cold weather is coming up. If it's zero degrees Fahrenheit, and tomorrow night it's predicted to be twice as cold, what temperature will it be? As long as the furnace is still on in my house, luckily it doesn't matter! (But I'm sure my husband could answer the actual question without much thought!)

6] Your significant other is upset with you, would you rather be skating on thin ice or be in hot water? Why? Hot water, definitely. I hate walking on eggshells and trying not to reach that point. I'd rather just take the beating and be done with it.

7] What's worse, expecting the unexpected or being a wise guy? Worse? I don't interpret those as very similar. And I usually go for both.

8] What brand of vacuum cleaner sucks the best? Mine really sucks!!! We've got the Dyson animal one and have been pretty happy with it. Nevermind the brand, a new one of anything is always best!

9] How is it one careless match can start a forest fire, but it takes a whole box to start a campfire? Do you like playing with fire? So true...I used to like playing with fire, but now I'm pretty busy setting a good example for my three-year-old, so I can't remember the last time I gave a fire a good poking with a stick.

10] Toys R us...what was your favorite toy? I have fond memories of cooking over a light bulb with my easy bake oven.

11] Halloween is near...let's go grave robbing....what would you like to find? Well - here's the question that made me realize Thursday Thunks is slacking - these are from last week! But I'm more than half way done, so I'll finish anyway. I'd like to not find dirt under my fingernails. I hate dirt under my fingernails.

12] Do you wake up or open your eyes first? Probably wake up. I think. I'll try to double check tomorrow, because I'm definitely awake already today.

13] What mask would you wear to a Halloween Party? Masks are usually so uncomfortable. I'd probably go for one of those old-fashioned looking just-the-eyes mask, know what I mean?

Thursday Thunks

This week's title on Thursday Thunks is I See Dead People!
Enjoy!

1. Berleen is sending you away again. You can travel anywhere in the world; one destination per day from Friday through Monday. Where do you go and why?
Disneyworld? Some days I'd just be thrilled to be where I'm supposed to be on time! Hahaha...

2. Would you keep a secret from the closest person to you if you thought it was in their best interest? Depends on the secret. I can't think of anything I would keep a secret, but I never say never. Never.

3. Tell me one odd/interesting fact about you that you have not revealed in some other crazy meme. I'm running out of odd/interesting facts....I absolutely love having my nails looking polished and pretty.

4. You can have three wishes (for yourself, so forget all the 'world peace etc' BS) - what are they? These things always feel so serious for me. What if I blow it?? Okay, here goes. 1) Better hair. 2) More energy. 3) Enough money to get the things I see that I want :)

5. If you could change anything about your living situation, would you?
Not really. More room wouldn't be bad, but the horrors of moving outweigh the limited space. But we'll probably move anyway.

6. Who is your favorite character from a comic strip? Please post one strip for us to laugh at. I don't usually read comic strips. Does Happy Tree Friends count? They crack me up. (I'll warn you, there's cartoon gore involved.)

7. Now we have found you dead. What five people do you want to MEET in Heaven?
Heaven? I don't think I'm done here yet - see you next time around!

8. So since you are dead, what will the title of your life story be? I have no idea. If I'm dead, how is this my problem? :P

9. Word association time! What's the first thing that comes to mind when you see the word pleasure? An island.

10. Kimber is by the Arizona ocean. She finds a message in a bottle. What does it say? It's a receipt from Speedway.

11. Would you like to guest host Thunks one week? Answer “yes” here and email us here! If the answer is “no” who do you think would be a great guest host? Nah. And I don't know who would be a great guest host...

Thursday Thunks: The Man in the Moon

The TT questions are brought to you by Bud, the color of bad excuses and the number 9. number 9.number 9.number 9.number 9..

1. It's election time. The moon is currently waxing crescent and is 37% full. What do you do to decide who to vote for? Hopefully learn something about the issues and the candidates!

2. Everybody is afraid of something. Do you play a musical instrument? In the past (think high school and earlier) I have played the flute, piccolo, saxophone and oboe.

3. Everyone loves some kind of music. What is an irrational fear that you have? The honey bear. It isn't natural.

4. Back to politics. Who do you think will be next president after Obama whether he gets a second term or not? I have absolutely no idea.

5. What is the most unusual piece of furniture that you own? Unusual? Probably some of the old tables and an old chair in my office. Not that they're unusual, but their styling isn't common.

6. Everybody gets angry at times. When was your last time and what did it concern? I have a three-year-old. Sadly enough, she's been pushing all my buttons lately.

7. Do you have cousins? If yes, are you or have you been close? I have around 30 first cousins on my mom's side, and five (along with a couple of half-cousins or something) on my dad's side. I'm not exceptionally close with any of them.

8. What was the last song that you sang in the shower? Hmm...I don't remember for sure. It may have been 99 Bottles of Beer, or No More Monkies Jumping on the Bed!

9. What question would you like me to ask next week? Don't care, really....

10. What's in your left pocket right now? Nothing. Usually my cell phone, if I leave the house.

11. When was the last time that you laughed till you cried? Probably with my mom a couple weeks ago when we drove to the Longaberger Homestead.

12. What song would you like played at your funeral? Will it make any difference to me? Maybe 'I'll Follow You Into the Dark' by Death Cab for Cutie.

13. How did you discover Thursday Thunks the first time that you played? Probably from Jodi ;)

07 October 2010

Thursday Thunks

This week's Thursday Thunks is about Sneaking Out!

The TT questions are brought to you by Bud, the color of a pumpkin pie and the number 3333.

1. When you snuck out of your house for the first time, who were you meeting and why? I don't know if it was the first time, but the most memorable was the time I got caught weeks later because the neighbor mentioned to my mom that he had seen me driving, when in reality I'd only gotten my license like the day before. Oops.

2. Tell us about the last time that you got your heart broken. Extra points if you publish their naked photo. Let's be practical. My heart was 'broken' at birth. We found out about it and had it repaired last March :D

3. Tell us about someone you know named Bob. (Yes, we know this is a stupid question. Stupid is what we do best.) Huh. The BoB I spend the most time with is a forum for direct selling consultants. Yup. That's the BoB I know and love...

4. We just found the perfect retail space. We are giving you the store. What’s its name and what do you sell? I've kind of gotten used to working my version of retail from home. And making the mess selling at your house instead of my shop ;) I'm selling chocolate, baby!

5. Tell us about your last “friend with benefits". My first, last, and only 'friend with benefits' lasted way tooo long at like eight years, I think. At one point we were 'officially dating,' but I didn't know about that until weeks into it. And men say women are confusing? Whatev.

6. Kimber worries a lot. What was the last thing that you worried about? I worry almost constantly about being a mom. And if I'm away from my daughter, I worry even more about her without me.

7. Do you believe “once a cheater, always a cheater”? Yup.

8. Tell us about moving out of your parent’s home. Who did you move in with? The first time I moved out of my parents' home, I got married and moved in with my (now) ex-husband. I didn't know how to get my own place otherwise (can you say young and naive??).

9. What was your most recent regret? I should have gone grocery shopping as soon as the paycheck came in on Friday, when my car was still (I assume) running.

10. Berleen recently ranted on face book about having to got to parent-teacher conferences when your child has great grades. What was the stupidest meeting that you most recently endured? The last meeting I endured, I was running. I hope it wasn't too sucky.

11. Do you collect anything? Lately, I'll say Longaberger baskets. My passion was renewed when we visited the Longaberger Homestead last month.

12. Has anyone ever told you that you were in the wrong job? Not that I recall.

13. Is there something that you’d like to complete before the end of 2010? Sure. I'd like to maintain $1000/month in sales for my business, to keep on track for a sales consistency award.

Do Elephants Come With a GPS Installed?

Welcome to the September 16th edition of Thursday Thunks!

The TT questions are brought to you by Berleen, the color of my kitchen table and the number 45.

10. What number blog post is this for you? I dunno. Should I know?

9. You are driving down a road and your GPS says turn right, but the road has a Dead End sign. You check your GPS and according to its map, there is a road at
the end of the Dead End road that you need to turn onto. Do you follow the GPS? Probably. I can always turn around and Lois (my GPS) can recalculate (even though that really makes her mad...).

8. If you had a $2 bill, would you spend it?
Yup.

7. When there is nobody else around and you sneeze or cough, do you cover your mouth? Usually. But when I think about it, there's very seldom 'nobody else around.'

6. You are a DJ at a radio station and your
first guest is Bud... what is the first question you are going to ask him? I have no idea.

5. Have you ever stopped to help a stranger with a flat tire? Nope.

4. You get on an airplane and you find that your seat neighbor is Kimber... what do you talk about or do you ignore her completely? I usually make small talk and see where it goes from there.

3. Have you ever rode an elephant? Yup! (The pictures in this post are of me and my dad riding an elephant at Boblo Island, I think around 1976 or 1977?)

2. Time to bitch & moan! What is your biggest complaint about your current friends on Facebook? Please use words, not text language. Ugh. And don't be an idiot (even if you're using big words...). Oh! And don't air your dirty laundry. I hate finding out TMI and personal stuff via Facebook.

1. School is back in session for all little girls and boys now. What, in your life, changes when kids go back to school? We get to see the bus pick up and drop off the kids on the corner. Yippee?

Thursday Thunks

Congratulations to
KIMBER & BERLEEN!
at once a week...a great milestone

Welcome to the September 2nd edition of
Thursday Thunks!

The TT questions are brought to you by Bud, the color of my neighbor's wife's eyes and the number 33,333.

1. Would you rather have a pet hippo or a pet elephant? Hippo, definitely. Sure they're mean, but I could put a fence up in the yard and keep all the slackers from cutting across. At least stop them from doing it more than once. It's all about the holiday song.

2. Why do you think bananas are shaped the way they are? Gravity. (That wasn't intended to make much sense.)

3. In one word (OK, you can go three to four MAX) , what do most people describe you as? Brilliant, gorgeous and imaginative :D

4. Choice (stupid but a choice…): Loss of vision, ability to speak or hearing - which do you choose? (you have to choose one....) It's like a law. But we can't make you. Ability to speak. At least I'm pretty sure that's what my husband would choose for me.

5. Do you like lemons? Do you use them to clean with or just as a food source? Or are you saving them up for 2012? I don't dislike them, but I don't have any around.

6. When you are feeling icky with that sickness feeling, what is your first choice for feel-better medicine? Sleep.

7. You are starving. You have not had anything to eat for days. In front of you is poison ivy, a live hissing cockroach, and a rotten stinky piece of some sort of mystery meat to eat. Which would you pick and why? None of the above. I don't eat leftovers that don't appeal to me the next day. I definitely wouldn't eat any of that stuff.

8. Who was the last person you bought a present for? What was it? Will you buy Berleen one? Do treats count as presents? Then probably Maggie. If not, then most likely baby Alexis and Olivia. And I got them clothes and toys. I don't know Berleen. I'm not rich enough to be buying presents for strangers, sorry.

9. Name 3 things you want your kids to learn before they grow up. (If you don't have kids, feel free to explain to the other players why you chose the “no kids“ choice. Yea. I know. (Those who have children will NEVER get it. And no, don‘t explain it…) Wow. I'd like her to learn my version of the golden rule (Treat others as they want to be treated), as well as how to stick up for her own happiness. And I'd like her to learn to read. There's still plenty of time. She's only three.

10. What was your favorite toy as a child? What happened to it? I don't really remember. Maybe my Barbies that Maggie still plays with at my parents' house?

11. If you could paint your house ANY color you wanted and your friends, family & neighbors would love the color from the moment they saw it, what would it be? Yellow. Like butter. I've always wanted a yellow house.

12. If the Pillsbury Dough Boy got into a fight with Mrs. Butterworth who would win? And would anybody get hurt? And do we seem desperate even asking? Totally Mrs. Butterworth. She can really crack the whip. I don't think dough gets hurt, or can hurt, so we're clear there. And there are no desperate questions.

13. What was the last thing you would guess that Kimber took a picture of? Oh. And consider the meme listed below. Click on it. It rocks. I have no idea. At all.

Tomorrow, please join us!
This is a GREAT meme...
This week features the lyrics of ELVIS!

26 August 2010

Thursday Thunks

It's time for Thursday Thunks!

1. To whom did you last give the finger? I think it was a guy last week who I drove past right in front of my house, after he'd passed another car in our no-passing zone, while traveling way too fast! Maggie was asleep in the back seat so she couldn't see me ;)

2. If you had 1,000 dollars and HAD to spend it, what would you buy? Oh, boy! A razor, because I've had to quit shaving for a bit til I can afford a refill for my fancy one. And then probably some fall clothes for the family.

3. What was the last beverage you spilled on yourself? I don't recall, luckily.

4. When was the last photograph you took? What was it of? I took a lot of pictures on Monday night of Maggie at Chuck E Cheese's.

5. Who was the last person to smoke a cigarette in your presence? My sister-in-law Sarah.

6. What animal did you last pet or hold? Our cat, Audrey.

7. What was the last superstitious thing you did? Hmm...I don't like to walk with hubby or Maggie and pass on opposite sides of a post or door frame or anything.

8. What was the last text message you received? 'Where are you?' from hubby last night.

9. Berleen has decided to buy twelve goats. If she trades three for some awesome pot, loses one while she was stoned, what do you think she did with the rest? Make something tasty to satisfy the munchies ;)

10. What was the last musical instrument played in your presence? Probably the guitar in the kitchen, played by either hubby or Maggie.

11. What was the last note that you wrote on your hand? I don't remember. I don't like writing on my hands.

12. Kimber announced that she was born on another planet. Which one do you think it was and why? I have no idea! How interesting..

13. What are you wearing as you answer these ridiculously stupid TT questions? My really crappy $5 t-shirt from Kohl's that is mis-cut and not very comfortable, and a pair of jeans.

19 August 2010

Thursday Thunks

Thursday Thunks: You give it a title
Welcome to the August 19th edition of Thursday Thunks!

Where we make you think a little bit before you blog!
We pick a subject, and your job is to interpret it anyway you want.
Write about it on your blog... simple as that.
Maybe you can interpret it as a picture - we don't care!

The TT questions are brought to you by Berleen, the color of lightning bolts and the number 1.

A. If you see a tornado out your window, what do you do?

Umm...take cover?

B. A celebrity knocks on your door saying that their tour bus/limo/pedal bike broke down (you pick the transportation)... who is it and what do you do to help them?

Lately, I wouldn't be home. Sorry, whoever you were!

C. Brett is back on the Vikings - do you really give a crap?

Brett who? I mean, no.

D. What side of the bed do you think Bud sleeps on?
Probably the top.

E. Cookie Monster eats vegetables now. Is this ok with you?

Yes. Good for him :)

F. All the TT's get together for coffee... which state do we meet in?

Maybe a state of confusion?

G. Is the town you live in famous for anything? Infamous for anything?

No on both counts (as far as I know..)

H. Coffee flavored bubble gum - would you?

No.

I. So Kimber lost her fight with a granite table.... what did you ever lose a fight with?

I'm losing a little bit more of my fight with gravity each day.

J. Have you ever slept beneath the stars?

Yes. But usually there's also a roof between us.

K. School is starting up soon, or has for some, did you get a new pair of tennis shoes every year while you were in school?

I don't think so.

L. What two flavors do you love that you would never want to taste at the same time?

Easy peasy - Cherry Coke with toothpaste (although I frequently accidentally taste them at the same time).

M. If you could shave a quote into a lions fur, what would it say?

I'm not that brave (to shave the lion - that isn't the quote).

N. Did you ever accidentally walk in on your parents doing the nasty? Did you ever purposely walk in on them?

Heavens no!

15 July 2010

Thursday Thunks - Kitchen Wonderland

Welcome to the July 15th edition of Thursday Thunks!
Where we make you think a little bit before you blog!
We pick a subject, and your job is to interpret it anyway you want.
Write about it on your blog... simple as that.
Maybe you can interpret it as a picture - we don't care!

Head over to Thursday Thunks and leave a link if you have written a Thursday Thunks post.
Don't forget to go visit the other participants' blogs.
Read and comment about all their Thursday Thunks responses!
That's what all this is about after all, isn't it?
We'll have so much fun and become lifelong friends....

The TT questions are brought to you by Bud, the color of Jupiter's third moon and the number 3,333,333.

1. Billy Mays died about a year ago. What kitchen gadgets have you bought that you've used less than three times? What are they?
Hmm...probably several, but I'm more likely to buy em at a home show, where I later discover that I am only inspired watching someone else using said tool. I have one of those super sharp mandolin cutting things I imagined I'd use all the time....I don't think I've used it yet. I also love my cookie press, but I think I've used that about three times.

2. What celebrity would you like to shake some sense into, and why?
I can't think of a stupid celebrity worth the effort.

3. Jimmy Buffett just did on concert to benefit the victims of the Gulf. Name a Buffett song that you like.
I think most of them are worth drinking to, but hubby hates em all, so I don't hear many all the way through.

4. How did you feel about Ringo Starr turned 70?
Didn't even know.

5. What sport do you absolute see no point in watching?
My first instinct is to say fishing, but I try to find the entertainment in whatever I'm forced to watch (and thinking of watching fishing reminds me of Brian Regan's skit on it, and that makes it amusing after all).

6. Trivia time. Do you know the first names of the French twins? Huh. I don't even have any idea who you're talking about.

7. You are in the best seafood restaurant in Canada. What type of meat do you order?
Possibly what the waiter or waitress recommends.

8. How far would an electric car have to go without a recharge before you'd buy one?
I like the car I've got, so a new one doesn't hold much appeal, whether or not it's electric.

9. Did you see that a high court ruled that you can swear on regular TV? What word can you just not wait to hear?
I wish the ruling had come in time for Jack Bauer to say something other than 'damnit' when everything goes wrong :D

10. You are in the finest steak and rib joint in Kimberville (Arizona). What seafood dish do you order?
I'm feeling pretty wishy-washy today. I'd probably ask the waiter or waitress again.

11. What was the last concert that you attended that really sucked? I don't go to many concerts, so luckily nothing comes to mind.

12. What type of accent would you like to have, if you were forced to change yours?
I don't have an accent - I'm from the midwest. ;)

13. Kimber's got four kids with chicken pox. Berleen is not feeling the love today, so I was asked to host. What do you miss most when neither originator of TT is asking the questions?
I don't have the attention span to participate regularly, so I don't really know the difference. :hide:

29 April 2010

Thursday Thunks

As far as I can find in my own silly tags, this is my first go round with Thursday Thunks - enjoy!

1. Robins have red breasts. Why are their eggs blue? It's complicated. It has to do with the filtering of the color red as it goes into their little birdy bodies and away from the oxygen. Kind of like the opposite of why blood is red when you're losing it, but blue in your veins. Get it?

2. The doorbell buzzes at the same moment the phone rings. Who was on the phone? Just check the caller ID and find out!

3. It seems that there are several very popular memes each day of the week. Which meme did you first become a regular of? I don't really remember. I did Thursday Thirteen for a while. Now I like the easy ones like Tuesday Random Thoughts (which I keep forgetting to do lately...).

4. It is about time that Berleen and Kimber meet in person. Should we start a collection to fly one of them to the other, or just hope Thom's bus and get from Hawaii to Kimber in Arizona and take her to Berleen in Minnesota? You can start a collection if you'd like. I don't know who you're talking about just now though. They should all arrange to go to the same blogging conference - somewhere in the middle?

5. Tell us about your pets. Do you have one that you wish would run away? I only have one cat now. Her name is Audrey and I don't want her to run away. The dust bunnies, on the other hand....

6. What was the last thing colored red that you wore? I think I have a pair of red underwear. I shop at Target too much to have a red shirt. I hate when people mistake me for someone who works wherever I'm shopping.

7. I have a train that runs by where I live several times a day. I actually find it peaceful. What's the longest journey that you have taken by train? I think I've only taken one journey by train. When I was in school our Girl Scout troop took a train somewhere in Canada. Since then I've just done the train that loops around the zoo or an amusement park.

8. If Kimber threw a five dollar bill off a building that was five stories high, and Berleen threw a twenty off a build that was six stories high, who do you think would find the money? Hopefully someone who would appreciate it!

9. If reincarnation really happens, whose life would you like to know that you have already led? Hmm....someone who could cook, just so I could know I'd done it once-upon-a-time.

10. What are your three favorite possessions? My car. My wedding band/engagement ring. My penguin pajama pants.

11. A lot of people still believe that Elvis is alive. Have you ever worn blue suede shoes? No. But I do have some cute pink tweedy ones.

12. Do you have siblings? If yes, are you anything alike? I have one younger brother. We're not very alike, but that's okay now that we're more mature. :)

13. Has anyone ever asked you to strip naked and cluck like a chicken? My attorney has advised me not to answer this.
