Weekend in Review

Wow - that was a busy one! It all started, I suppose, with working events on Thursday night and Friday night for my Dove Chocolate business, and knowing of hubby's business trip starting any day (and we continued saying 'any day' up until the plane took off, because the plans kept changing).

Saturday morning, Maggie and I got up and ready EARLY for another baton competition. I was quite happy that this one was much closer than the last, and the weather was clear for us to travel. Have I mentioned how sick I am of the snow??
Maggie's whole team did FANTASTIC! Her baton and pom pon groups both took first place in their categories, as well as the older girls twirling number getting first place, and a duet from our team also being awarded first place! The coach said the solo performers also set several personal bests. We're all so proud of our girls.

We came home to pick up the boys and go out for a nice family lunch. Hubby checked the weather while we were there, and I was relieved when he said the snow wasn't expected to start again until after midnight. This way, it shouldn't interfere with our Monster Jam experience downtown.

The kids and I went to pick up our fourth guest for Monster Jam (hubby had too much work to finish before his trip) and we decided to take his truck instead of my car. Company truck with free gas, and not having to deal with my nerves while driving in Detroit traffic and worrying about the weather.

Monster Jam was great! We got their early enough for the 'Party in the Pit' so we could get up close with the trucks. Maggie was most excited to see a giant bounce/slide, and we scraped enough cash for the kids to enjoy that. It warms my heart so much to see how patient and helpful Maggie is with Jack. He could not get up the ladder to the top of the slide without her help, and she carefully pushed his butt up there for all three rides. :)
Once the real event began, Jack once again pulled his amazing trick of staying awake for the less-exciting race portion of the show, and then SLEEPING through the monster truck freestyle performances. What?? There was a rumor of Tom Meents doing some sort of double flip with Maximum Destruction, but it didn't materialize.. Hmm...

Leaving Monster Jam added a little more excitement to my weekend than I needed. While we were inside, more than an inch of snow had fallen! Hubby saw it from home and messaged us, suggesting our friend drive me and the kids all the way to the house (about a half hour out of his way) and then hubby would ride back to his house with him to get my car. Ugh! But so thankful to have had these guys looking out for us. It would have taken me wayyy longer than necessary to drive back myself.

Thankfully the roads were clear by Sunday morning. Maggie especially was so excited to see a babysitter we haven't seen in a long time come to watch both kids while I went out to do two chocolate tasting parties.
The parties went well, with yet another March party booked. But by the time I got home a little after 9pm, I was past ready for some much-needed sleep. I think Jack was still awake as I fell asleep in the bed next to him and slept straight through til 7am.

I hate to say it, but that weekend was a bit much for these old bones!

Weekend in Review

I just may have bitten off more than I can chew with a 'Weekend In Review' post after a four/five day weekend!

Wednesday was the beginning of the weekend for Maggie! So we headed to a play date and lunch with friends. I love me some Noodles & Co. Truffle Mac with Steak - YUM! As we were finishing up lunch, hubby called to say he was leaving work early too - yay! He met us at the mall for a little while. I got a little bit of stocking stuffer shopping done, then we all had ice cream. Hubby also got to schedule a little play time, so he went out for drinks with a friend while the kids and I finished up the day redeeming some of my freebie coupons at Victoria's Secret.

Thursday was Thanksgiving, of course! We did double duty this year, by stopping at mother-in-law's for an hour or so before heading to my brother's for dinner. Maggie was so excited to spend the day with her cousins! She said she loves making three-year-old Olivia laugh. She sure is good at it! We digested our food while the kids played in the new remodeled basement, and the men-folk watched a movie in the new basement theater.

Friday we originally planned to go to Frankenmuth to visit Bronner's Christmas store and then have a famous chicken dinner (the dinner is famous, not the chicken personally). But mommy was a little under the weather, so we just chilled at home most of the day and then headed to Applebee's.

Saturday became the new Frankenmuth day, but first hubby headed back to my brother's with his brother to get a cast-off (but still working) TV that would fit fabulously at his mom's house. It took them a few hours, but I'm sure the bigger TV is worth it. Once he got back (and headed back out again to get Arby's shakes for us once we found out he ate there without one!), we all got it in gear to head to Frankenmuth! The stop at Bronner's Christmas store was derailed because of an accident blocking the road on our way in. Our dinner reservation already wasn't til 7:15, but we certainly couldn't stand to be any later than that!

Sunday Maggie and I made it (late, but we made it) to church. She loves her Sunday School class. After church we made our traditional bagel stop, and then hurried home to get to work on decorating. One tree had been put up on Saturday, but there was still one more to put up, and lots of ornaments to be hung. Hubby also put a few finishing touches on the outside lights he'd started earlier, and even used one of my Home Depot coupons I earned back around halloween by killing zombies :) I love when my mad skillz come in handy.

It was a long, crazy, busy, super-fun weekend. I think Maggie declared each and every day 'the best day ever.'

Weekend in Review

Well, it's been a busy, kind of disappointing, but overall happy weekend :)

First things first - I got more entries on my giveaways, which makes me happy! Check em out here and here. Please :) And pass the word. Only three more days on one and a week on the other...

Now back to your regularly scheduled programing.

Friday night I worked at a ladies' night out just a mile or so from my house. I would love to expand my business locally! Had fun, met some fun people, and a few said they are planning to order (fingers crossed!).

(Uh-oh - the baby is waking up wanting me. Looks like you'll get the abbreviated version...)

Saturday we had lots of family fun during the day. The kids got their baths (why does that seem so labor intensive to me??), and then we helped daddy in the yard for a bit while Jack took a nap on the family room floor. Maggie had a lot of fun having a couple neighbor kids over to play. She said it was another 'best day ever' (she's said this almost every day for about a week now).

Saturday night I had an in-home chocolate tasting party for a woman I met at an event last month. I had a fun time hanging out with them all, and can't wait to hear how much they like what they bought :)

Today I spent most of the day at a fundraiser/vendor event in the same area as my tasting party last night. There wasn't a lot of traffic, but the other vendors were nice. It's always pleasant to visit with other women and spend a day away from the usual kid demands. After the show, hubby and the kids met me and we headed to Texas Roadhouse for dinner.

Honestly, one of my favorite parts of the whole weekend was when all four of us just played in the family room tonight between dinner and bed. This is my life, and I love it <3 <3

Weekend in Review

We took it a bit easier than usual this weekend, as hubby was out of town playing racecars. I try not to be crazy and overextend myself when it's just me and the two kiddos!

That being said, Friday was nuts!
I finally got the call late Thursday afternoon that Jack's six-month pictures were ready to pick up, and I wanted to get this done on Friday, since my parents were coming over Friday night to watch the kids while I worked. So we actually made it out of the house by 11:30 or so to drive the 25 minutes each way to pick up the pictures at Kiddie Kandids.
We went straight from there to Kinkos (I will always call it Kinkos - not 'FedEx Office') to get some flyers printed for chocolate work. Although we didn't make it out of Kinkos til 15 minutes before a scheduled play date, I called the other mom to let her know we'd be late so we could get some lunch :) After scarfing down some Taco Bell, we were only a few minutes late to the playdate.
The girls had a ball playing together for a couple hours, and I was very glad that Maggie didn't give me any grief when I said we had to get going (since I still had a couple more things to do to get ready for chocolate work before my parents arrived to watch the kids).
Friday night's chocolate show went great! It was a fundraiser for a local Relay for Life team. Their goal is to make at least $200 through this event, and they're on track to do it! Yay! Unfortunately for my parents, Jack was a very fussy boy while I was gone.

Saturday we decided to go to my parents' house. Maggie was very excited because my brother was also bringing his daughters there for the day. She couldn't wait to play with her cousins! The girls had a great time making and decorating cupcakes, playing together, and even spending some time outside (although it was chilly in the shade!). We wrapped it all up by going to Bagger Dave's for dinner together.

Today the goal was to clean up some of the house before hubby came home. We started out by cleaning Maggie's and Jack's rooms, then took a break to go buy cat litter and head to the mall for smelly soaps and a ride on the carousel. Once we got home, we chilled out for a bit and watching Despicable Me before having our 'ocean nibbles' (fish sticks) and tator tots for dinner. With cupcakes for dessert, of course ;)

Weekend In Review

That's the way it has to be...and apparently that's the way I like it!

We once again had a weekend that felt so full, it almost had extra time included - yay!

Friday night we had dinner at home and then headed out for a dessert treat. I also suggested to hubby that since he's been working so hard lately he deserved a treat he could appreciate a bit longer. We got him one of the single cup Keurig coffee makers. I've heard lots of friends go on about how much they love theirs and I hope he enjoys it as much!

Saturday hubby got lots of running around done while I finished getting the kids ready for a birthday party in the afternoon, then we all hit the road for an errand or two along the way. The afternoon started off with tacos at Rio Wraps - always tasty! We checked out a roll-top desk from Craigslist, as we've been looking for one to complete our current living room plans. This particular one didn't quite fit the bill.
The highlight of the afternoon/evening was my oldest niece's birthday party. She will turn three in a couple weeks, but this was the weekend we all had free to celebrate. It was great to see the girls playing together a bit more as they get a little older.
My sister-in-law had picked up adorable tutu dresses at Costco before the party, and Maggie insisted on sleeping in hers. She also wore her tights all night so (as she said), "No one should see my underwear." Yeah, that's a plan.

Sunday was jam-packed once again. We headed first to a local county park to just check it out and go for a walk. After an hour or so of that, we started across town to see another roll-top desk, with lunch at Qdoba along the way. This desk was a keeper, and the people even asked for my chocolate biz cards! Sounds like a potential win-win to me! After getting the desk we took a brief stop over at home to set it up and rearrange part of the living room. Once that was done we were in the car again to go get me a new computer monitor since mine totally tanked last night.

Now we're pretty much ready to hit the hay. The baby is a bit snuffly, and with daylight savings time, tomorrow morning will come early!

Weekend in Review

What a busy weekend!

Friday night I don't think we did anything. Oh! I remember now - Maggie and I were going to go to a direct sales show at a neighbor's house, but the consultant was sick and canceled. So we just went out to Pei Wei for dinner. After dinner, I put Maggie to bed and hubby took baby Jack out to the bar (yes, really), so I could work on compiling my tax info for our appointment on Sunday. The baby chilled pretty well for over an hour, so I got the bulk of the tediousness done. And then the charming boy dozed in the recliner after nursing, so I was able to do what I absolutely had to.

Saturday was busy, busy! I had a chocolate party that started at 2PM about an hour away. That means I spent the morning getting stuff together for it (and the next party), and then hustled my butt out the door a little after noon. Their road was terrible! I was afraid the gooey mud was going to suck my car right into the ditch! The party is going to close out on Monday, but another party is booked by one of the guests for the end of March, and one of her friends is thinking about becoming a chocolatier - yay!

After my 2PM party, I hurried home to freshen up my supplies and head to a 7PM party an hour in the other direction. Unfortunately there were a lot of guest cancellations for that one, and while Maggie had been hoping to play with the hostess's daughter, the hostess's husband was sick and I didn't want to expose baby Jack, so they just played at a nearby mall til I was done.

Sunday started early, as we had a 9:30AM appointment to have our taxes done. It's tradition that we meet my parents at the tax place, then they watch the kids during our appointment (after having their own taxes done). We all head to the coney island down the street for lunch, then come back and pick up our completed returns. We were happy with that, so it set a good tone for the rest of the day.
After our tax appointment, we came back to the house and got the truck so we could go to my SIL's house to get a couch and a couple chairs they were looking to replace. And putting new furniture in our house kind of got the creative decorating juices flowing, so we spent the evening shopping at Kirkland's, Home Goods, Michaels and a little Pier One before going to our favorite pizza place for dinner.

Whew! A fun and busy weekend!

Weekend in Review

As I admitted a few posts ago, I'm having a hard time even remembering it's the weekend, after our mid-week trip last week!

Friday night found me still recovering from our trip! I did putter around enough to get mostly packed for my chocolate show on Saturday afternoon, as well as baking cookies to take with me. Baking is somehow easier after the four-year-old is in bed than with her 'help.'

Saturday we didn't have a lot of time before we needed to try and be on our way to mommy's 'chocolate work.' It was hubby's turn to sleep in, since I mostly just dragged my butt through Friday from complete exhaustion from the trip home Thursday night/Friday early AM. We made it out the door just before noon and were able to stop for a super-fast lunch at McDonald's before I headed to the hostess's house for the chocolate show.
It was good to get the first one under my belt. It wasn't a great show in terms of numbers, but the ladies were nice and it felt good to finally be working again.

Saturday afternoon we took a slow trip home, stopping to get Dairy Queen and pick up Jack's first pictures from Kiddie Kandids. I had great intentions about making some more scheduling calls for work, but I only got as far as calling a team member to help with entering an order.

Today started rough. I was very happy that Jack chilled on his own sleeper, so I could pull the covers up to my neck and snuggle in for a few minutes right before we all got up. Hubby's goal today was winterizing the boat, so he went and got that from storage while I hung out with the kids. Jack wanted my full attention, so I was finally able to make it to a shower at like 1PM.
This afternoon my mother-in-law came over for a bit. I think her plan was to love on the baby, but Maggie jumped in quick to have company playing in her room, and they dressed up and planned a wedding. Oh, to be four again!

Weekend in Review

Wow, if my last Weekend in Review was somewhat anti-climactic, this one is non-stop action!

The weekend actually started a bit early for us. We hit the road for our weekend trip on Thursday night. The ultimate goal for our trip was a friend's wedding just outside Minneapolis, Minnesota on Saturday night, but with a pregnant lady and a four-year-old in the car, we figured scheduling frequent stops would be a better idea than being surprised by how often we had to stop ;)

We only drove a few hours before stopping at a Rodeway Inn just past the Wisconsin border. Maggie was thrilled to sleep in a motel, but we really just picked this one for the price. Maggie's first comment in the morning was that they had given her her own pillow. Yes, a king-sized bed - even at the Rodeway Inn - comes with three regular-sized pillows.

Friday the real fun started. By early afternoon we crossed the border to Minnesota and reached our first destination - the Mall of America. The first sign we saw when we went in the door was for the aquarium and Maggie's mind was made up. She loved touching the starfish, and walking in the tunnel surrounded by sharks. She named all the sharks Bruce after the shark in Finding Nemo ;). After a second trip halfway through the aquarium to touch the starfish one more time, we set out for the middle of the mall where the Nickelodeon amusement park was. Apparently preggos can't ride anything. at. all, so daddy got to chaperone while Maggie rode the cars and the train. She was almost talked into the hot air balloon ride, until she saw them go up in the air. The bouncer was another favorite (luckily mom had the required socks in her purse from a mall trip the week before).

Friday night we hopefully improved Maggie's impression on hotels even more with a stay at the Hyatt using credit card points - yay! We were happy to be there to enjoy a leisurely Saturday morning. The wedding we were aiming for didn't start til 2PM, and it was less than a half hour away.

We still had time for other stuff after check out and before the wedding on Saturday. Maggie loves big buildings, so we spent a bit of time walking around downtown Minneapolis. There really wasn't much going on, or even much we found to see, but Maggie kept things exciting by riding her imaginary horse down by the river until they fell down and someone ended up with a skinned knee. Mommy's monstrously gigantic purse to the rescue again, with Dora bandaids at the ready.

The wedding on Saturday was actually expecting 30 - 40 little kids (yikes!) so they had some bubbles, coloring stuff and a giant bouncer at the ready (the jumping kind, not the kind to throw the drunks out, luckily for the lady in the white and tan striped shirt...). Maggie handled her disappointment well when she was told that the 'marrying lady' wouldn't be throwing her flowers. She was having enough fun with lots of new friends, and even got to spend a few minutes of dance party time with mom.

Sunday morning we headed out early to take the car on a boat! We caught the 2PM ferry from Manitowoc, Wisconsin to Ludington, Michigan. It was a nice change from spending the day in the car. Although it didn't save any time or money, it was a great experience that Maggie had looked forward to all weekend.

Weekend in Review

Sometimes a weekend without tons of highlights is just what we need, right?

Friday night I think we just chilled out...Oh, wait! Hubby met up with some friends who were in town for the evening as part of a bachelor weekend of sorts. After hanging out at a pub for a while, he headed home before they got to the 'steamy' part of the evening since he knew he had to work again Saturday morning.

Saturday morning hubby went to work while Maggie and I go ready for Mommy's chocolate work in the evening. Hubby came home in time to head out with us, and he and Maggie played at a nearby mall while I worked. After my show, we took advantage of a free entree coupon we'd gotten at Border Cantina.

Sunday morning found hubby heading into the office again. While he was gone, Maggie got a bath and I worked on some tidying up around the house. Once hubby got home, he found that the grass had not cut itself, so he worked on that while Maggie and I cleaned the basement playroom. I thought we'd done it after her birthday party a couple weeks ago, but I now doubt it. I found half-chewed candies, candy-wrappers, and toys that outright don't belong to us. I can only hope I would have seen these things if I'd cleaned the playroom in the past two weeks...
Once all of our cleaning efforts were expended for the day, we headed to the mall to get some more work clothes for hubby using some credit card rewards gift cards he had. Unfortunately they didn't stock anything in his sizes, but I was able to get a cute pair of pants and another maternity top that seems to actually stay covering my cleavage and my belly at the same time - yay!
Sunday evening one of hubby's friends arrived in town for an interview Monday, so he joined us for dinner and we visited for a bit.

All in all, I now think we did more than it felt like, but nothing really earth-shattering. And I'm perfectly okay with that!

Weekend in Review

Wow! This time the weekend is just wrapping up on Tuesday. That's certainly got its pros and cons. Staying active usually keeps me from getting too melancholy, especially while I'm just getting used to living further from my friends, but this baby-making is hard work at the same time - I'm tired!

On Friday night, hubby had to work late, so just Maggie and I went to karate class. Afterward, I wanted to go out and enjoy a sit down dinner. So when I asked what she wanted for dinner, and she said McDonalds, I suggested we go somewhere, "Where we sit down and the waitress brings us our food." Maggie changed her restaurant of choice to Red Robin. After a nice meal and (of course) a balloon, we headed home for some rest.

Saturday Maggie and I got out of the house really early so hubby could do some work on the hardwood floors. The original plan was to put another coat of polyurethane down and preggo me couldn't be around the smell, so the girls headed to Meijer, and washed the car, and got drinks at 7-11 before picking daddy/hubby up again at 11AM to really start the day.
Once the whole family was together, we headed to Mimi and Papas house, where I dreaded (but accomplished) bra shopping with Mimi, and then we all headed to a memorial service for Gigi, who passed away in February. While it was supposed to be a generally sad occasion, it was really nice to catch up with family we don't necessarily see very often. A few families planned to meet up again on Monday for the funeral/burial at the cemetery a few hours north. It doesn't sound like anything out of Funeral Planning Today, but it worked for us.

On Sunday we headed to a three-year-old friend's birthday party. Talk about extremes - our day to day conversation went from Medicare Supplement plans to potty training! The party was at a play place about 20 minutes from us. I was happy to check it out, and we had a good time, so we may consider being visitors there again.
After the party on Sunday we headed to a BBQ with one of hubby's co-workers and some of his friends and family. The co-worker's mom was quite entertained by Maggie, and I enjoyed a few minutes of not chasing her myself!

Monday we headed up north for Gigi's burial. We got super-lucky with the weather, and a torrential downpour struck...just minutes after we left the cemetery! Maggie and I went home with Mimi and Papa from there, so hubby could finally have us out of the way so he could finish the polyurethane.

Today hubby made the trek to Mimi and Papa's house to bring us back home just after lunch time. What a long weekend!!
Next weekend will be three-days for most people - what are your big plans?

Weekend in Review

I can't remember the last time I was so grateful to see Monday! What a busy weekend.

On Friday, hubby left for the Lemons Race (that's him in the second picture). Maggie and I decided to relax and enjoy the day, since my chocolate party that was originally supposed to be that evening had canceled. We took our time going to the mall to see the Easter bunny and pick out a dress for me for Easter. I also found some fabulous new makeup that so far I'm really happy with :) Friday night was Maggie'e Tiny Tigers karate class. She's doing a great job with it and I'm really proud of her. After Maggie went to bed Friday night I started working on my new seasonal third job.

Saturday morning I got up and bustled frantically to get ready for the rest of the day Saturday. We went out for lunch with a friend, and then headed to my mother-in-law's house for a Premiere Designs jewelry party. My mom met us at the party, and we did the Maggie pass-off, where Maggie headed to Mimi's for a sleepover and I continued on a work-filled weekend.

From my mother-in-law's house I tried to head to a fundraiser I was doing for a local library. Unfortunately, my GPS decided not to join me on the journey, so I spent a chunk of the almost hour drive on the phone with my mom to figure out where to go! The fundraiser was a great success, with two more chocolate tastings booked and a couple of items sold. Saturday night I was able to put in a couple more hours on the third job before crashing into bed.

Sunday morning was as early as I could make it, as I had to get ready for a tasting event on Sunday afternoon. Instead of baking cookies (which I wouldn't have had time for anyway), we had a mousse dessert decorating contest at the party, using my leftovers from Saturday night. The party was fun, but I was anxious to get back to my girl. I got to Mimi and Papa's house in time for yummy spaghetti dinner, then worked up the energy to move the carseat back to my car and head home for an early night of much-needed sleep!

Whew!

Weekend in Review

Busy, busy, busy!

Friday hubby had off work for a medical test he needed, so Maggie and I did our best to cater to his needs and make him as comfortable as possible...until 6PM when his dad came over instead, and Maggie and I met up with friends to head to Disney on Ice!

We all had a great time at the show. Joel's mom wasn't sure if he'd really want to sit and watch the whole thing, but he was really into it and having a ball! Maggie's biggest concern during the whole first half of the show was only that she wanted cotton candy.
While the show was great, I was really disappointed when we first arrived and there were NO BATHROOMS after the hour drive until after we waited in line at will-call to get our tickets, and then waited in line again to go through security, before going up about a billion steps to the nearest bathroom. It was close, but Maggie was luckily able to hold it!

Saturday I was excited to head to Toledo for our first Dove Chocolate Discoveries team meeting there. It was really fun getting to meet one of our new team members, reconnecting with Jacki, our marvelous host who has been doing the business for a while, and signing up another new member for our Toledo team! I'm really excited to expand that area, since I regularly get company leads from people in and near Toledo looking to have their own chocolate tasting parties.
Hubby headed out with some work friends Saturday night, but he had time to take us to a delicious dinner at East Side Mario's. I still get to have leftovers for lunch tomorrow - bonus!

Sunday the time sprung forward an hour, which of course means we started out what felt like an hour later than usual. Fortunately I'd started preparations for Sunday's chocolate tasting on Saturday night while hubby was out, so I was able to be on time by the show in the afternoon. The show was a good time, and my hostess will have fun picking out $75 in free chocolate tomorrow!
With the running late and time issues, I missed having a good lunch, and ended up with a killer headache by the time we got home. Hubby was nice enough to let me try and sleep it off - yay!
Although we ended up with a late dinner, I'm feeling better now and have gotten a lot of stuff accomplished this evening.
I'm ready for a fresh Monday start and another productive week!

Weekend in Review

Whoa! It's been a lot of activity this weekend. We even started a little early to get it all in!

Friday: I had another cardiologist follow-up appointment. Hubby took the afternoon off work, especially since we weren't sure how my car would behave. We did take my car to the appointment (and everywhere else this weekend) and she seems to be doing fine!
From the heart institute, we headed out to the park where my parents were camping to drop off lil miss Maggie for the weekend. She's always excited to spend time with her Mimi and Papa - I can't wait to see some of the pictures they got! She camped with them most of the weekend so she could participate in trick-or-treating there on Saturday night while we had other plans.
After dropping Maggie off, hubby and I headed to the Outback for our traditional Sweetest Day dinner. Yum! I forgot to get the lobster and mushroom topping for my steak on the side. It is so fabulous I like to make sure I get every drop, but I didn't want to lick the plate with all the other stuff too ;)

Saturday: I had to get up super early Saturday to get ready for the vendor event/fundariser I was doing that day with my Dove business. I got lots of great contacts and met a really cool vendor at the booth next to me. It was a fun day!
I went from there to stop and buy some shoes to go with my dress for the reunion that night. As I was missing Maggie, I also got her the adorable princess boots she'd tried on earlier in the week. She was so excited when I told her we got them for her!
Saturday night was my 20-year high school reunion. It was more fun than I expected. There was no one there that I really hung out with in high school, but I made new friends I hadn't met years ago. Go figure! As a friend pointed out to me today: We're all different people now than we were 20 years ago. Leave the past in the past and get on with life now!

Sunday: Today I had to get up early again to get ready for my chocolate tasting this afternoon, and because I was in a hurry to go get Maggie! I miss my girl when we're not together!
We picked her up a little after noon and all headed to my chocolate party. During the party hubby and Maggie went to visit my brother and his family. Maggie did not want to leave her cousins when it was time to go get mommy! Sorry, kid!
Tonight we just ordered pizza for dinner, and now we're catching our breath after such a busy weekend!

Weekend in Review

How sad is it that I'm doing this post to see if I even can remember what I did all weekend?? Yikes!

Friday night took me a minute to remember, until I realized I didn't personally do much of anything. Hubby called in the afternoon to see if we had plans and say he wanted to go do another sea-trial with the boat. Luckily he caught us at the grocery store, so I didn't bother getting anything for dinner. Maggie and I shared a pizza and then spent our regular evening chilling.

Saturday we let hubby sleep in, but I took the initiative to make some rather random plans for the day. I told him I wanted us all to go to Hooters for lunch (what? I like the wings!), then we headed over to do not-much-of-anything at the mall. I finally dropped off my hair stylist's tip from my appointment in July (since they could charge my appointment, but not the tip), Maggie got to play in the play area for a while, and I had a coupon for a free pair of Victoria's Secret skivies. Go, me!
Saturday night hubby and I watched Grindhouse: Death Proof, which I liked way better than I expected (except the scene with Zoe on the hood - I HATED that part). And it's one of those weird movies where I like it better the longer I think about it afterward. Odd.

Sunday
we had a whole lot of nothing planned again. Hubby's dad and his wife came by to trade vehicles with us for the week (they needed the truck that's stored in our backyard). After they left, hubby laid down with a headache :( He got himself back up again to join Maggie and I on our walk to the Dairy Queen (where he 'tested' the gas scooter he's fixing for a friend) and then his mom came over for a bit after we got home. I ended my day with lots of laundry so he could start packing for his next warm-weather business trip. Lucky boy!

Weekend in Review

You know those weekends that are so busy they don't even feel like weekends? Yeah. I think one of those just flew by my head....

Friday night I had a chocolate show in the same neighborhood practically as last Friday. So I went and did my show, while hubby and Maggie went back to the same park as the week before. My show was a lot of fun with some great ladies :) We're closing it out this afternoon once the hostess picks all her free stuff!

Saturday morning hubby and Maggie left early so he could drop Maggie off and go boating, since I had a training meeting in the morning and then an open house event. All went well, and I hear Maggie was very entertaining at her cousins' house. We tried a new pizza place for dinner that came recommended through one of hubby's friends. The cheese on the pizza was fabulous. I'll have to go Yelp about the restaurant this afternoon :)

Sunday was probably the busiest day of all, at least on paper. I was supposed to have two chocolate shows, but one of them hadn't returned my calls for the last week. I was still unable to get a hold of her, so I had to go ahead and assume the show was canceled. Still haven't heard anything, so apparently I was right ;)
The show that held was great! She had to pick out $168 in free chocolate, plus I booked shows for three of her friends within the next month!
After the show we headed to meet some of hubby's family for pizza dinner - yum!!

Weekend in Review

Friday: I had a girls' night out to attend where I was presenting Dove Chocolate Discoveries for everyone's enjoyment :) I could have stayed longer and was having a good time visiting with old and new friends, but the sky started looking a little creepy, so I got out before the thunderstorms rolled in.

Saturday: I got up in the morning to be ready for someone who was going to pick up her chocolate order, but then she overslept ;) If it's not one thing it's another, right? But because I wasn't sure if she was on her way, hubby and I staggered our 'getting ready' time so someone would be available to answer the door. By 11 or so we were all on our way. Hubby and his dad took the boat out for a test for the first time this season, and Maggie and I headed to a Pool/Birthday party. Maggie had a blast and loved going down the water slide.

Saturday evening we headed downtown to walk the Detroit Riverwalk. It was our first time. It was kind of a bummer to have to pay $3 each adult to get in (but the food/drinks/carnival rides still cost more after you bought your wristband for admittance), but we dealt with it. Although Maggie was quite drawn to the carnival rides - especially the ferris wheel, she was excited to wait and ride the 'train' (the People Mover) at the end of the night instead. She stood on her seat and waved out the window the whole way. "Hi cars! Hi people! Hi stores!"

Sunday: Not much time for hubby and I to be together this weekend, as we again headed our separate ways. His sister had a Fathers' Day BBQ for their dad, but it was at noon so his other sister could go to work that afternoon. Hubby and Maggie headed back downtown for that visit, while I went to catch up with some friends I hadn't seen for a while in Ann Arbor. It turned out to be a good thing hubby hadn't driven me out there, as we took much longer to catch up than we expected!
Sunday night we finally saw Avatar. I hadn't really been trying to watch it, and was quite pleasantly surprised - it was a good movie and I'd recommend it!
