Woo-hoo! Go, Dove!
Didn't get something for your sweetie, or your granny in Denver, or your best friend in Alabama for Valentine's yet?
It's not too late! Dove extended the deadline for ordering our Valentine's day special. You can order either of these fabulous, exclusive items TODAY and they'll still deliver (within the continental U.S.) at Valentine's Day!
Go ahead, order now - or forward the info to your hubby. Or my favorite? Order it for yourself (because you know you won't forget!) and sign hubby's name to the card for him ;) When you're a fantastic enough wife to do that, you deserve a treat for yourself!

Random Tuesday Thoughts

Damn. I need that wine.
Congratulations to Denise for winning the Sexy Saturday giveaway last weekend :)
The weather is finally turning to fall! We are still getting quite warm by mid-afternoon, but I was nice and cozy catching the bus at 8:20AM in a lined flannel jacket. I tend to only wear that jacket a few times a year, and every time I wonder why it's not on me more often! I love it <3
Favorite Maggie story from her first (partial) week of school:
On Friday, it's Bagel Day. If the kids bring $1, they can get a bagel before school starts. Yum! I don't know if Maggie had ever had a bagel, but of course she wanted to participate, so I sent her with her $1. On the way home from the bus that afternoon, I asked her about it.
She said, "I picked a sugar one." I'm thinking, sugar bagel? Uh-oh. I'm guessing the white stuff was salt, kid.
"But," she continues, "I didn't like it. So I didn't know what to do. Then my teacher came and got the sugar off and I ate some of the bagel."
I asked if she wants to get a bagel again, and she said yes, but she'll pick a plain one next time.
Good choice.
I've decided to schedule a chocolate tasting party at my house on September 23. If you're local to Lake Orion, Michigan and would like to attend, let me know :)

10 Random Things for Friday
- The last three days have felt like 'Friday' to me. I'm glad it's actually finally here.
- If it makes you feel any better, I've felt guilty several times this week for not posting each day, especially after my whine last time that I wanted to post more. Yeah.
- I cooked my fancy chocolate chip cookies/brownies last night. The brownies didn't actually cook through. I'm sort of bummed by this. I'm more bummed that I bought cheap brownie mix that I didn't realize was mocha flavor. Coffee brownies. Blech.
- My nerves are on edge. I talked to someone on Tuesday who said she was signing up to be a chocolatier, but I haven't seen her stuff come through yet. I'm really excited to work with her and I hope it happens!
- This afternoon is flying by! I'm trying to do a shload of laundry so hubby can pack for a trip tomorrow, and Maggie is adamant that I need to join her 'party' downstairs, complete with party games and goody bags.
- It is such a beautiful day out today!!!
- I need to do another giant to-do list for the stuff that might get done at night when I'm lonely and have no interruptions. Yes, this office is at the top of said to-be-done list.
- I also need to do a list of people I've worked with in the past who I should call about having a September party. Wendy, Jessica, Anne, Jamie...as I look to my left, I see a stack of great looking postcards that could sort of plant the idea before my call. So, postcards out Monday, call next Wednesday or Thursday if I don't hear from them first? Deal!
- Don't worry, the above conversation was strictly with myself.
- If you're interested in getting some free chocolate (catalog parties available anywhere in U.S. except Alaska or Hawaii), or seeing our new fall/holiday catalog, please let me know in the comments or visit my site.

Did Someone Say Chocolate?
Is it possible I haven't posted specifically about my job as a chocolatier yet this year? I figured now would be a great time to do so, since I'm about to earn the company's first incentive trip to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. Go, me!!
Dove Chocolate Discoveries has offered a direct sales business opportunity doing chocolate tasting parties with exclusive products since spring of 2007. I joined in August 2008. Being a chocolatier with Dove Chocolate Discoveries enables me to stay home with my kidlings while still making a decent income. My secret pleasure from my business is getting out to do the chocolate tasting parties without my kids! I could never justify a night out without them every week just because, but when I'm going to work, it takes the sting out ;)
For those who join Dove Chocolate Discoveries between now and June 30, 2012, the company is including an extra bottle of our Sweet n Smoky BBQ Sauce with your kit! A business kit includes enough products and paperwork to complete four to six chocolate tasting parties. You'd recoup your initial investment by doing just two average parties!
There's more information at my website, or feel free to comment and I can contact you with more information (my comments are moderated by me - if you include personal information I will not publish your comment, but I will receive your information :) ).

Calling All Direct Sellers!!
Something I've failed to mention lately (although you know if you've been reading for more than a few years) is that Dove Chocolate Discoveries is not my first direct sales venture. From roughly 1997 until 2007 or so (with a couple years off in the middle), I was an independent consultant with PartyLite Gifts. Yeah, go figure!
People ask why I 'switched,' but that isn't really how I did it. I honestly got away form PartyLite because I said I was done with direct sales. Ha! Famous last words, right? I got married in 2006, and had back surgery, and was tired of carrying stuff, being shy around strangers (really!), and surprisingly, getting headaches from some of the stronger scents that I carried anyway to share with people! Direct sales really is a business where you can be very successful if you're willing to work for it. I was tired of working and happy to just bring home my paycheck from my (then) full-time job.
I can still tell you the first day I heard of Dove. I was reading a friend's blog on my birthday in June, 2007 and saw a comment from someone saying she was a chocolatier and did in-home chocolate tastings. I was intrigued, but busy with my newborn and not sure I really wanted to get back into direct sales. I let it simmer in my brain for a bit, and actually signed up in August on the night before my own scheduled chocolate tasting. I had never seen a show or met the woman who was now my 'sponsor' in this new adventure.
Now? I can't imagine my life without the sense of self that my own business brings me. I get recognition (besides stickers stuck to my back ;)), new friends, lots of people happy to work with me, and time with adults. I think most of these are rewards that are applicable to any direct selling business!
My point is this - I'd love to talk about your business too! Let me know if you're a direct seller with a blog, and if you'd like to swap posts to promote each other's products, or if you'd like to swap orders to try some fabulous chocolates and share what you're offering!

Chocolatey Fun Weekend!
What a fun weekend!! I just got back from Baltimore, MD, where I attended the Dove Chocolate Discoveries National Conference. I met up with a friend in the area (our annual girls' weekend!) and had a blast both at the conference and away!
Some highlights of the conference included being named #10 in the WHOLE COMPANY for my number of shows held last year (from July 1, 2010 until June 30, 2011). I did 63 shows, and was awarded a beautiful custom bracelet on stage at our banquet on Friday night. I was shaking when they announced my name - I was so excited!!
I also got a special tote bag containing a key ring and some of our new products for maintaining consistency of at least $1000 each month in sales. This was my original goal for the year and I feel great to have reached it!
The part that can be most exciting for anyone reading is all of our new products and promotions! We're planning a trip that can be earned by all chocolatiers - it's an all-inclusive vacation to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic next May and you can bet I'll be there!

And by 'we', I suppose I mean me and a mouse in my pocket?
I'm pretty excited to be on my way to Dove Chocolate Discoveries National Conference to see old friends, taste new products, and learn lots about working my business!
Unfortunately for all of you, most of the new stuff isn't actually fit for public knowledge/consumption til September! Watch this spot and I'll announce what I can soon :)

Hump Day!!
Whew! It's been a busy week already! After trying very hard to run several errands on Monday (finished all but one), I totally forget a vital phone call yesterday (guess that's on the list for today!). Last night by the time I remembered I was at my chocolate party.
Tonight is my Thirty-One party. Have you seen their bags and totes? I've only got one that I won, but I haven't actually used it yet! I'm always interested in checking out what's new with direct sales, and I'm sure my friends and I will have fun.
I'm also determined to get back to my business calls today. I officially don't commit myself to doing them when I have evening plans, but with three parties this week, the calls have to get done sometime! Hubby got me an awesome treat to help out - it's a wireless headset that I can use with my Google Voice phone. I'm really excited not to kink my neck to talk and take notes, and to just make calls without walking to the kitchen to get the phone and be distracted by six other things...
Tonight is also Dove Chocolate Discoveries' weekly opportunity call. There are just EIGHT DAYS left with our $49 business kit available - if your own business is something you've considered, do it now and save $110 off the minimum investment starting April 1!
I'm always available if you've got questions, but tonight you can be even more anonymous by calling 1-800-511-7985 and entering passcode 473504 at 8:00PM Eastern time. They'll do an overview of the business, and then there's plenty of time for questions and answers. If there's something specifically you want to ask, speak up! If not, listen in and see if you hear the answers to questions you hadn't even thought of. If you call because of this post, please let me know and I'll offer you an extra incentive if you or a friend signs up by the end of the month!

On My Mark...

In less than a month (okay, only by one day...) I'm getting ready to do the biggest women's expo I've done so far! Maggie and I went with friends on Friday to another women's expo, and I was really trying to gauge what everyone was doing and get ideas for how I want to do my booth next month. Now the real work begins!
I've ordered a banner, flyers and lots of business cards. I'm also looking at what samples and things I want to get from the company. They have a cool recruiting DVD I think I'll get and have playing on one of our netbooks - it'll be practically like a whole additional person working the booth and providing information, right? Okay, I know nothing too passive yields much in the way of results, but it can't hurt.
Still on my list of stuff to do is getting some cutesy-ish things for parts of the display (since my shows usually involve more tasting than actual displaying). And I need to go over who all wants a piece of the action! I know of one team member so far, and I've told hubby that I really need his help. It's sure to be a day of work and fun - I hope another team member or two will want to join us and help me follow up with all the leads we'll get too!

You can start for as little as $49 (just through March), and you start making money with your first home party. And you're not paid in chocolate - it's cash, and it can be 45% or more if you sell at least $1,000 in your first 30 days.
Please check out this link for more information, or leave me a comment and I'll get back with you soon!

If you just do your own show for your friends and family, you would make more than you spent and have products left over!!
Please think about whether this would make your financial life easier (and more fun!) or if it might help out someone else you know. I can work with anyone in the 48 contiguous states (sorry, we don't do business in Alaska or Hawaii yet), and I do reward for referrals as well.
There's more information at my website, or feel free to comment and I can contact you with more information (my comments are moderated by me - if you include personal information I will not publish your comment, but I will receive your information :) ).
