Ugh.

So much for that list.
  • The trash? Hubby forgot or missed it. I remembered, but when I looked down the street, everyone else's was gone. So apparently I missed it.
  • I designed the chocolate postcards, but can't get them copied til I get paid. Duh.
  • Uncle Bunny wasn't available. Luckily Maggie cooperated at the lab, so that's our good news for today :)
  • I'm mailing the dress in a minute...
  • Taco Bell was yummy. I liked when we pulled from the order window to the pick-up window and Maggie had heard me order...she started yelling, "Taco! Taco!"
  • Work? Not so much. Apparently the end of the quarter has arrived...there's not enough work for me to log in :(

To-Do List, Tuesday, March 31, 2009

I haven't even gone to bed for Monday night yet, but I'm feeling ambitious for Tuesday already....

  • Take trash out if hubby forgets.
  • Finish up postcards to send to some chocolate customers (potential hostesses!)
  • Call Uncle Bunny and see if he can hang with the munchkin for an hour or so.
  • Get summer-y maternity dresses from the basement and put them in an envelope for someone who needs them while I don't.
  • Go to lab for blood draw.
  • Have postcards made at Kinko's.
  • Mail dresses to preggo friend.
  • Pick up Taco Bell to bring back for lunch.
  • Work five hours.
Wish me luck!

Busy Internet Day

I don't know what I would have been doing twenty years ago, but today I was very busy on the internet - actually accomplishing stuff. You can find anything on the internet - from real factual knowledge, to games to play and stuff to buy, to reviews of stuff like Colonix - good and bad.

I did indeed play some games. I also registered to make some meals on Wednesday with my sister in law, start an order for some business supplies that I'll get when I get paid this week, and format some business postcards to send (okay, just in Word instead of on the internet, but close enough ;) ).

The internet can be a huge distraction, but sometimes that's okay if you take into account how much time it can save you on the stuff you need to get done...

A Passionate Blogger

Why, thanks for saying so!
I got this award from Tammy at Crazy Mom with 4 Boys one day last week, but got all caught up with new baby stuff and forgot about it for a few minutes!

In addition to me, Tammy also passed it on to:
* Judi at Where the Raod Takes Us
* Michelle at My Crazy Life With a Toddler
* Tammy at Mom Knows Everything
* Jenn at My Kids are My World

Isn't she a sweetheart? Oh, and passionate, of course.

I'm sharing the passion (woo-hoo!!) with:
* Jodi at My Life as Mama Jodi
* KK's Mom at Mom of 2... (taking it one day at a time)
* Tara at Two Lines on a Stick
* HF at Happiness times 2!
* Becky at Beautifully Unique

Huh.

Here I sit, determined to post more regularly, but I've got nothing to say.

We've finally lined up a lazy weekend. Maggie and I were going to go with Mimi and Papa to see new baby cousin Olivia if Daddy was working on the car, but Daddy still needs more parts. So instead we'll go with Daddy to get his hair cut, then wander around the mall, pick up some new jeans for the grown-ups, summer shirts for mommy, and avoid being accosted by the salespeople for the acne treatments (even though our skin is clear...). Then Daddy has mentioned maybe we can still catch up and surprise everyone at the new baby's house after dinner. We'll just have to wait and see.

What are your big weekend plans? The weather has made things a bit weird here too. It looks springy, but they were actually calling for snow at one point, so I'm guessing it isn't warm yet..

10 Random Things for a Friday

Yay! We made it to Friday again!
  1. I don't think we have any real plans this weekend.
  2. I can't believe my baby is going to be TWO this summer!
  3. I love wrapping up my other work so I can set aside a couple hours to do my chocolate business one day a week (yeah, today).
  4. I'm getting almost too giddy about my 'free' time right now....there's so much I'd like to get done!
  5. When will spring actually..well, spring? My head has been wanting to hurt for days because of the crazy weather.
  6. Thought of another thing to add to my list of things to do in the next two hours or so (however long Maggie naps...) - I should put on make-up since we're planning on leaving the house later!
  7. The Snoopy doll that belongs in the Snoopy pants on my office floor? Haven't seen him for years. Literally.
  8. I'm super hooked on Cupid's Crush lately. Super duper hooked, I mean.
  9. We're eating so much better since I went to Dinner Thyme and made us a bunch of dinners. Can't wait to do it again next week with my SIL!
  10. I don't think I have any long, comfortable, short-sleeved shirts...

Welcome, Olivia!

Maggie has a cousin! And I'm an Aunt!

Olivia Brooke was born on 3/25/09 at 4:22 AM. She was 8 lbs even, 20.5" long. She is nursing with her mommy right now. Olivia is beautiful and healthy. Her mommy did amazing in her 24 hours in the hospital, 21 hours of "productive" labor.

We'll try to go see her this afternoon :)

22 March 2009

Just another day...

Most of the time, I honestly believe my daughter is one of the best-behaved little ones I've ever seen. Maybe I'm biased, but other people also comment on how remarkably even tempered she is - really pleasant most of the time! This morning? Daddy got up to start her day after breakfast, and I crawled back into bed. Our little angel then brought her lovey bear, and a book she'd pulled off of Mommy's bookshelf, and climbed up the bed frames into the bed with Mommy. Maggie then settle into Daddy's pillow, made herself comfy, and proceeded to read the book to lovey bear.

Hardly the same child as two minutes later when she was screaming bloody murder because I wouldn't let her into my shirt to nurse. Go figure. Thank goodness for the cute times!

10 Random Things for a Friday

As inspired by Carolyn, here are my own 10 Random Things for a Friday.
  1. Huh. I know why I usually don't do this. As soon as I need ten random things, my mind is finally a blank.
  2. I have to get up early tomorrow, but I get to do it alone.
  3. I still haven't painted over Maggie's hand-print plaque thingy with clear sealer. I MUST do that this weekend...
  4. I hate the dry skin under my eyes.
  5. I don't remember the last time I shaved - welcome to winter in Michigan.
  6. My office is still a perpetual disaster.
  7. I'm still looking for chocolatiers to join my team. The kit is just $99 through the end of March. I paid $399 to start!
  8. My red hair is fading :(
  9. Maggie had her first popsicle today (while we were trying to make her fat little lip feel better...)
  10. I'm skipping a scrapbooking weekend this weekend because this year I'll be going to a UU Women's retreat in May, and BlogHer in July (it is July in Chicago, right?)!

It's a Small World!

Hahahaha...have I got that song stuck in your head now? Sorry!

I was just thinking about our vacation a couple weeks ago. We had people to visit everywhere! We ended up meeting up with friends in Harrisburg, PA, Hershey, PA, and someplace or other in Maryland. It was such a fun way to go, I want to do it again! With all the hook-ups we have, we could have 'local' dinner conversations about fun stuff to do in the Wisconsin Dells one night, and NC auto insurance the next!

I can't imagine what the world was like before having all my 'imaginary' friend on the internet...

19 March 2009

The rest of our mini-vacation!

After leaving Hershey, we headed to Washington, DC (with a brief detour to Maryland for dinner with friends there...).

We were welcomed to the capitol with unseasonably warm weather. Just five days prior, the city was shut down for a snow day. However, we were treated to temperatures in the lower seventies all weekend long. Even better was that our hotel was two blocks directly north of the White House. We started the day off by posing for pictures in front of the north lawn.

After the White House, we meandered over to the Washington Monument and gazed upwards.

Maggie also did a few laps around the monument... just because.

The day concluded with a visit to the Capitol building. Maggie loved running up the stairs, sitting down and then posing for a picture.

After her first picture, Maggie remembered her hat that she received from the Hershey chocolate tour the prior day, ran back to her stroller, grabbed the hat, ran back to the stairs and then posed for a second set of pictures.

...and finally, what trip to Washington DC would be complete without a ride on the Metro.

Oh, and since you're wondering? The Wordless Wednesday picture was also from our DC trip...I was trying to put a barrette in Maggie's hair. Like nailing jello to a wall sometimes..

And then??

After Thursday/Friday at Kalahari, we hit the road to meet up with friends in Pennsylvania. Friday night I got to go on an actual 'girls night out!' Go, me! I drank and danced myself silly, while daddy and Maggie watched TV and went to sleep in the hotel room. Huge shout out to Bri, Monica, Heidi, Liz and Chrissy for showing me a good time. I know there's some pictures out there, but they haven't surfaced yet.

Saturday was, I think, the day I was most looking forward to of our 'super-sized' weekend. We got to meet up with Girl and her kiddos. I've got to tell you, as much as I was looking forward to it, it was even better than I'd hoped! They are a fantastic family, and after just an afternoon with them, I'm sure they're our sort of folks. Too bad we don't all live closer! To see some of Girl's fantastic photos of little Maggie, go here. I always knew my girl was cute, but the photos Girl takes add even more magic. Thanks!

Where Have I Been?

Well, we tried to enjoy last Thursday and Friday at Kalahari Resort in Sandusky, Ohio. While we did enjoy it, it wasn't quite as expected. Although Maggie totally dug her swimming class last year, last weekend she didn't even want to play in the ten inch deep toddler play area. She enjoyed herself quite fine whenever we were on dry land (like the Tree Top play area) or on the dry, elevated areas in the water park play areas. Oh, well. Hopefully it's something she'll grow out of this summer :)

Here they are!

From BeeSqueaky.com:

I don't see anywhere to order them on that site! According to the guy at the store yesterday, the BeeSqueaky shoes are the European version of Wee Squeaks. The Wee Squeaks are what we had last time:

Busy Bees!

Yessir. That's what Maggie and I have been today - busy bees! And...she finally got a new pair of BeeSqueakys - yay!! Her BeeSqueakys are pretty much the European version of the WeeSqueaks - shoes with removable squeakers in the heel. We love them! I can say 'we' because as soon as I put them on her little feet she gets all excited and jumps up and down, and I know I love them because I can hear where she is.

Having the new shoes means we accomplished our main goal for today, but the schedule kept getting more added to it. As long as I'm staying busy, I'll never need best weight loss pills, I don't have time to eat! Luckily part of our plans today included lunch with a friend. Matt had said he was free this week any day but Tuesday or Wednesday. At first thought, it wouldn't work since I'm not available Thursday or Friday. but then I remembered it was still morning when we were having this conversation. I called, and he was available today. Fun, fun, fun!

And as I've been writing this? My sister-in-law just called. She's coming over in a couple hours (when Maggie wakes up from her nap) to play with Maggie so I can keep working. Yay? Just kidding. As much as no one loves working, I'm very glad to have the opportunity in this economy. Remember, mama's baby always loves some new shoes!
