Accidental Magic - Book Review

Accidental Magic (Myrtlewood Mysteries #1) by Iris Beaglehole
Publication date: February 28, 2022
Pages: 312 pages
Rating: 4 out of 5 stars ☆☆☆☆
Sweet Spark: This magical mother/daughter duo are so fun - with more adventures to come!

Rosalie and Aurora have been struggling. Rosalie has not told her daughter quite how bad off they are. When Rosalie's Granny dies suddenly and unexpectedly, she looks back fondly on how close they used to be, and how guilty she feels that they haven't been back to Granny's quaint town of Myrtlewood since Aurora was a small child - at least ten years have passed.

Instead of the private will-reading that they're expecting, Rosalie and Aurora have to make the drive to Myrtlewood to the law firm's other office when the office closer to them burns to the ground right before their appointment. With one strike of bad luck after another, Rosalie is afraid to get her hopes up that she'll actually have something good happen, in spite of how close she and Granny used to be.

This was a great first book to what's sure to be a fun new middle grade/YA series. Besides Rosalie and Aurora, Myrtlewood is full of quirky, fun, and magical humans and creatures that I look forward to getting to know better. I gave this book 4 out of 5 stars and look forward to reading more.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for my free electronic copy of this book. Receiving the book for free did not influence my review.
