This Year...

I find myself really emotionally influenced (and stressed out!!) by a lot of things about the elections, and now the inauguration drama, and then it just magnifies any other stress that comes near me. Ugh.

So I wanted to write, but I also wanted to be a bit more removed from, well, what everyone else is writing on their Facebook right now, if you know what I mean.

I hit the interwebs to google for blog prompts, and I found this little beauty on Pinterest, that Mother of Men 3 used a couple years ago. Let's see how looking forward can help me focus on the good things coming in 2017.

A bad habit I'm going to break: Hmmm... I can't think off hand of any bad habits. Well, at least not that I plan on breaking. Maybe I'll come back to this one, but probably not. Focusing on the positive, remember??

A new skill I'd like to learn: Now we're talking. I think I've listed this a few times on my annual recaps and things I'd like to accomplish in the next year (hey! I forgot to do both of those so far too!). But to stay on track for now, I'd love to learn to french-braid my own hair. Which I'd imagine will be harder than learning to french-braid my daughter's hair, so I should technically know how to do both then, right?

A person I hope to be more like: I think putting that kind of pressure on one person is unreasonable. I would like to be always more positive, intelligent, compassionate, respected, and witty.

A good deed I'm going to do: I hate having big pressure. My goal is generally to be available and help as needed. I try to be around and known in my kids' classrooms and school, as well as getting things from friends' kids' fundraisers and such. I also love lending a positive comment to support people in their goals and dreams.

A place I'd like to visit: I really want to go back to New Orleans. I loved the old feel of that city. I daresay it's my favorite US city, but I'd never actually move there. Packing up and leaving what I'm used to would be too hard.

A book I'd like to read: Ahh... this is always changing, isn't it? Right now, I'm almost done with the Bloggess's second book, so I think I should go back and read the first. I'm also on the waiting list for Anna Kendrick's book through the library.

A letter I'm going to write: I prefer to make pretty cards and send notes. To team members, to people who want to try Perfectly Posh, to people who win poshy prizes from me...whoever needs an explanation of what I love about them, or why they deserve something special.

A new food I'd like to try: Believe it or not, I've never had sushi. Maybe this is my year to try it? We'll see. I'm actually not a very adventurous eater. I like what I like, and don't generally see a lot of need to try things I'm not sure about. And I'm totally okay with that.

I'm going to do better at: I'd like to speak more kindly to my kids, blog more regularly, and bake more cookies. I've got a new cookie jar, and I don't think it likes to go empty for long. I'd also like to stop stressing about other people. Whether it's how they feel, or how they treat others, I'd like to learn to keep my mouth shut so I'm not part of the problem. And hopefully not be constantly anxious over the building words inside me. So I'd like my questionable words to melt. Can I do better at that, please?

I love all of your answers that is great way to start the new year by writing your goals and desires down. Good luck to sticking to them

New Orleans is great - I've been twice, I went back this past June for a friend's wedding, and the first time was to visit her after she moved there.

French-braiding hair is hard, too!

The hardest part of the self French braiding will be holding your arms up lol. Patterning will be easy for you.

I'm having trouble with all the 'drama' in the world too. I just need to fill my mind and life with things 'i' want and ignore the rest. Good luck right?!

BTW: Sushi is not on my list of things to try. LOL

You need sushi in your life. I would go with something cooked. It's so healthy and good.
