The Visit (2015) - Movie Review

Not sure what's gotten into me lately, but we've been watching a lot more movies than usual! I think I've gotten into so many tv series, that once we're caught up with them, hubby and I still like hanging out in front of the screen.

When I asked him if he liked 'He Never Died' or 'The Visit' better, he couldn't really answer, but neither could I. While these movies were very different, they were both very good.

The Visit is about a couple kids visiting their estranged grandparents. Their mother hasn't even seen her parents since she left when she was 19-years-old to run off with an older man. The grandparents reached out and wanted to get to know their grandchildren finally, so the kids headed to rural Pennsylvania by train to get to know them.

The grandparents have some quirky behaviors, but the older girl particularly understands that old people can be a little weird, and tries to convince her brother that it's all harmless. And it is mostly harmless, right up until the earth-shattering twist we've come to expect in M. Night Shyamalan movies.

I would definitely recommend this movie, and wish everyone would see it so I could finally speak freely about it! LOL

From the previews I couldn't tell if this was a horror film or a comedy mocking those type of movies. I do enjoy the twists that M. Night Shyamalan puts in his movies though it has been awhile since I've been impressed by anything he's released. Signs and Sixth Sense are probably my two favorite movies he's directed.

I haven't heard of either of these movies. I may need to check out the Visit. Thanks for the recommendation.
