"Smile and Say, 'Thank You.'" - GIVEAWAY!!

So many women don't know how to take a compliment.

I told a woman last weekend that I loved the way her hair color sparkled in the light. It was that really dark red, which didn't quite show red until it was in the light. Since we were at an event at a bar, I didn't notice it til we'd been there a while.

"I love your hair color!" I told her.

Instead of just saying thanks, or even smiling, she started trying to turn it away from being a positive statement as intended. "Oh, if I didn't do something, it would all have been gray years ago." And I assure you she did not mean a pretty gray. Why??

I was stumped at how to respond. Believe it or not, most people don't want their negativity turned around by some crazy Pollyanna. Even though I want to point out the positive so bad!

When someone says something nice about you, or your outfit, or your hair, you can just smile and say, "Thank you."

We talk about how mean people can be to other people, but I think the 'nice' really needs to start with being gentle to ourselves.

Don't expect the worst.

Don't look for what you perceive as the ugliest thing about your appearance.

Don't dwell on what you wish you could change.

As a matter of fact, start right now.

Please, please? Comment on this post with your BEST physical feature. And as long as I have at least 20 comments with wonderful things about you all, I'll mail a gift card to one winner, chosen by my beautiful daughter (randomly, that is...).

Go!

My eyes. And they look even prettier when I cry, so I try to be melancholy or tearful AT LEAST once a day. ;-)

I like my eyes. I am the only one of my siblings who got my dad's hazel color, and I love them.

Hopefully, it's my smile. Simply because it makes me feel good when I use it.
