Too Much German Influence?

Since we living in Germany for a few months in 2007 and hubby has to travel there for work a few times a year, we've had discussions about the cultural differences between the two countries.

One of the things we caught on to right away is that when German women go out, they are usually dressed well and wearing full make-up. I must admit, it's a welcome sight after the sweat pants or pajama pants women drag themselves out of the house in here in the USA. On that note, I don't know if it's the German influence or just the way I've always viewed things, but I just cannot bring myself to leave the house with no make-up on. And the only yoga pants or pj pants I wear are for exercising or sleeping in. People told me these things would change once I had a child, but so far I've stood my ground.

Tonight I only reinforced it again. Maggie and I didn't go anywhere all day, so while I did shower and get dressed, I didn't do anything else besides put a headband on to keep my hair out of my eyes. When I realized at dinner that we didn't have enough milk for breakfast and we decided to run to the market, I went and put on eyeliner and mascara. Not a full make-up, but enough for me to feel presentable.
