Meanie

So this one could have happened anywhere, but it happened in Germany. Actually, come to think of it, it wouldn't have happened back home in the U.S.A.

We were out running around, meeting up with a friend and going to get some groceries for the new apartment. About half way through our 'running,' Maggie started getting fussy, then even more fussy. Because we needed a car seat in the states until the last minute, and here starting as soon as we arrived, we shipped the seat that goes up to toddler sizes over here before we came. So that's what we're using. It's really tall, so we can't reach her in the back seat from the front. We also don't have our nifty look-in-the-backseat mirror that we have at home. The point here is we had no idea why she was fussy, and we really couldn't do much about it.

Eventually she fell to sleep. And we didn't give it another thought til we arrived at the market. When I went to get her from her seat in the back, I found why she'd been so fussy. Her cute little headband had fallen down around her eyes. Yup. We'd been forcing our child to ride in the back seat, facing backward, and blindfolded.

Sometimes it's lucky for us that she's not old enough to report our abuse yet.

Whoops! I think something similar has happened to all parents at sometime. Be kind to yourself. ;)
