I'm joining in with Kimberly at Caffeinated Reviewer for Sunday Post, and Deb at Readerbuzz for Sunday Salon. It has been a hot minute, and I've missed checking in with ya'll.
What I'm reading this week:
I just finished The Language of the Birds by K.A. Merson on my kindle (review to follow, 4/5 stars), and started A Family Matter by Claire Lynch. The print book I'm reading was a 'blind date with a book,' and I chose to receive one book from a cozy mystery series. It's Who Am I to Judge? by Emily Hanlon. There's even a personal note from the author on the cover - that always makes me happy!
Three Good Things:
- Well, Thanksgiving week is the top of my list right now! Our daughter is on her way home today, I only have to work three days and get two days of holiday pay, and the kids opted for an intimate Thanksgiving dinner at home! Hubs and I are heading to the grocery store today to get stuff for all of our favorite side dishes, and he'll go grab a rotisserie chicken on Wednesday (cuz it's easier and less wasteful than a turkey, and our tummies will be just as happy).
- I finished my Sanderson Sisters' House LEGO set! I've been trying to have the motivation and the time to re-do our corner curio cabinets in our dining room, and letting each family member have a few shelves, so the cabinets can really be about all of us. I want to use one of my shelves for that fun set.
- It hasn't snowed and really stuck yet! Honestly, I spend so much of the year worrying about driving to work in the snow. And me and my car are fine, but I don't trust everyone else on the road. I'll have more PTO available starting in Jan
uary if I decide to call in sick instead of drive to work... So the longer the winter holds off, the better for my sanity.
Three Goals for this week/month/whatever:
- First off, I NEED TO finish my laundry so our daughter can use the machines when she gets here, and finish vacuuming her room and putting fresh sheets on the bed. She was in a rush when it was time to leave, so I am the one who told her that if she had what she needed, she should walk away and I'd deal with her room. And now I've put it off til the last minute. Today, today is the last minute and I need to get her room ready for her.
- Grocery shopping today! It's been more than a month since I've done a 'full' grocery shop. We had some financial issues and just grabbed the bare necessities a few times. Now, I need to do the list thing and buy all the stuff, as I do not want to go back to a grocery store again during Thanksgiving week.
- I've done a few posts for my holiday wish list, but I'd like to add a few more. And another book review to post. And I really should do some Yelp! reviews. So...computer work? Yes. I need to sit here and do some computer work.

Have a wonderful week with your daughter and your family celebration!
I know you will have a lovely Thanksgiving celebration at your home with all of your family together again.
I do not know how people drive in snow. We are going to Dallas in December for our granddaughter's graduation, and I'm planning to fly if there is snow or ice.
Happy Thanksgiving and enjoy the time with your daughter!
What a busy day you have. Glad you will have your daughter and family time this week and the paid holidays. Happy Thanksgiving!

I'm so happy for you that your daughter is coming home. I hope you and your family have a beautiful Thanksgiving!
Hope you have a wonderful thanksgiving with family!
That’s so exciting about your daughter coming home. I hope you have a wonderful visit. And yes, chicken is just as good as turkey and actually more tender to me. We are doing turkey but it’s a tradition for us to do that. The thing is huge, though, and there are only four adults and two children who don’t eat a lot so we will have a lot of leftovers!
I can wait for snow myself. I no longer have to drive in it but I don’t like people I love having to drive in it.
Yay for a holiday week with family! It sounds like you have a great week ahead!
