The Friend Zone - Book Review

The Friend Zone by Abby Jimenez
Publication date: June 11, 2019
Pages: 385 pages
Genre: Romantic comedy, Contemporary
Rating: 4/5 stars ✰✰✰✰
Strengths: Realistic issues, great characters, small dog with sassy shirts
Weaknesses: ...maybe we need a HEA for everyone?

This was a fun book and a great distraction for a couple days. Josh and Kristen's first meeting sets the tone for their snarky friendship. But this is a contemporary romance, so we knew love was just around the corner.

It's hard to tell some of the struggles in this book without spoiling it, but I will say that I loved the way Kristen's female problems (fibroid cysts) were dealt with. There wasn't really sugarcoating, and while some might think it didn't sound like a big deal initially, Kristen's character made the long-term life-altering effects clear.

I laughed, I cried. I enjoyed suffering and celebrating with the whole cast of this story, and I look forward to the follow-up, The Happy Ever After Playlist. I'd give this book 4 out of 5 stars, and I would love to have friends like Josh and Kristen.

Sounds like a good one. Not your usual kind of romance.
