The End of 2013

I suppose I'm one of those peeps who looks at the start of school as more of a 'new year' than actually changing calendars. But I'll also take any opportunity to examine my life, what's working, what's not, and learn from what's happened.

You can't make everyone happy all the time. Yet I keep trying :)
Sometimes, even if you do exactly what's asked of you, someone would rather be miserable.
Sometimes, no matter what you do, there's someone you can't make happy.

There's one person you can make happy more often than not. Or you can even make one person miserable more often than not if that's how you want to roll.

You're in charge of you. You're responsible for your feelings and your reactions. Not your best friend, not your kids, not your spouse, not your mom... YOU.

You are certainly allowed to ask for what you want from people. You may or may not get it. And you may realize that it's good enough, or not. One of my favorite quotes: "Just because someone doesn't love you in the way you need, it doesn't mean they aren't loving you as much as they can."

Just reflective ramblings, I guess.

Go out and make 2014 fabulous. Choose to be happy. Love with all your heart. Forgive instead of carrying the burden of a grudge on your shoulders. Spread joy. Laugh like a kid. Appreciate what you've got. Treat others as they want to be treated. Make choices you can be proud of, and respect yourself.

the last paragraph says it all. Sometimes our choices aren't the ones we really want, but they are the best that are available to us at the time. No since wanting to stay home all of the time if that would make someone else miserable lol
