Road Trip!

We've made it back in one piece from our first road trip with the baby. I was surprised to realize as we hit the road on Thursday night that although our girl has already traveled internationally - twice - this was her first trip outside of Michigan in the U.S. (unless you count the stopover at the airport in Fort Lauderdale, which I don't. No place with that many womens gold watches can fairly count as what I know of the U.S., since I don't run with the cruise/resort vacation every weekend crowd...).

So now Maggie has been in Michigan (a lot! hahaha), Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina.

Funniest story from the way down there? Well, hubby probably won't agree, but we met one of Lexington, Kentucky's finest. Yup - got pulled over :( As the cop was catching up with his, we saw the speed limit raise to 65 mph, but it was too late. He wrote us up for 65 in a 55, although he said he was 'giving' us 10, since we were actually going 75. It was one of those sneaky areas where it didn't look like we were still in the city, so we thought the speed limit had gone up. Nope.

And to add insult to injury? As the officer wrote our ticket, Maggie blew out of her diaper and got shit all over the car seat. Literally. We stopped at the Cracker Barrel at the next exit, both for lunch and because I really had to pee. I asked hubby to grab the baby and meet me inside, since I had to just go straight to the bathroom. Inside the women's room, I heard his voice. "Honey?" He had pushed open the door of the women's room to tell me she'd blown out. Unfortunately, she was wearing the cute new dress I wanted everyone to see! So I washed it out in the sink, and we hung it on the car to dry while we ate. My brilliant plan worked and she was able to wear her freshly clean new dress out that night :)

And that's only the first day of our adventure!

Carseat blowouts are the worst! It is pretty funny though. :-)
