Tornado watch til midnight? Swell - I'll be asleep upstairs :)

Maggie's excuse for staying up well past her bedtime tonight? "My bed is kind of comfortable, but your bed is more comfortable. Are you going to bed yet? I'll go with you."

I'm so happy that we got to go for our lil weekend away last weekend. We almost didn't, but then things magically fell into place on my birthday a week ago. Lots of fun was had with good friends :)

I'm still waiting for the repairs on my oven to be completed (and less than thrilled about it). First we just needed to wait for an additional part, but then the morons at the home warranty company started saying the other part for the repair was 'structural' and they wouldn't cover it. Let's see....without the part, my house fills with gas. And this isn't a problem?

This week is flying by! (I'm sure driving back from mini-vacation all day Monday helps!) I NEED to book my hotel room and flight for next month's chocolate conference this week!! Must do!!

Home Safe Home

I feel amazingly more settled in than I'd expect after just six weeks or so. We still haven't had to stay overnight with hubby (it'll happen), but I'm not all nervous and reaching for the phone when he's working late.

The whole community we're in feels much further removed from the 'city' than we were before. Just having such a huge yard makes it so Maggie has room to play and I don't have to be helicopter mom! I can sit on the porch and read while still watching her in our front yard, driveway, and even the street in front of the house (since we're the last house on the street). I haven't gotten to watching much local news, but the Yahoo! headlines haven't given much that's been overly concerning either.

I honestly can't say that I looked a lot at the reputations of the communities we were looking at homes in, but I think we got really lucky. We're far enough off of the beaten path that it's quiet and peaceful.

Random Tuesday Thoughts

I think the heat today has fried even the randomness from my brain.

Either that, or the zombies have eaten my brain. Each possibility is equally likely.

Whoa - then I walked away to read a bedtime story and forgot to come back.

I think Maggie is going into another growth spurt. She slept more than 13 hours last night, and then fell asleep in the car tonight after we went out for ice cream. (And now that I've typed that, she's out of bed AGAIN.) So my point was, I'm glad we haven't bought a lot of summer clothes so far, as her size may still be up for discussion.

Why are maternity shorts mostly, well, SHORT? When I sometimes can't see past my stomach anyway, do they think I won't notice how bare my legs are? I'm sticking every time I sit down in my car, or on my yoga ball (which is my seat of choice at the computer). I usually wear more of a walking-short length. I feel like a hootchie in these little maternity shorts! Especially since the shirts seem to only cover either my chest or my stomach at any given moment...

10 Random Things for Friday

1. I'm hungry. Wish something here sounded good for lunch.
2. Hubby has been working like mad around here! Last night we got new blinds put up in the master bedroom, a couple things hung up in Maggie's room, and the trim moulding put back on the floors downstairs. Yay!!
3. I'm kind of excited to be making my favorite Kimmy's Chicken Dip for my Uppercase Living party tomorrow. Check it out! If you need anything, it's not too late to order on my party :)
4. I'm so glad my headache is finally gone (at least I think it is....).
5. Maggie and I did our toenails yesterday. Maggie is convinced that Master Pitcher (her karate teacher) is going to say they're 'so pretty!!' We'll see ;) He doesn't strike me as the type to comment on such things.
   
6. Tonight is our last night of this session of karate classes, and Maggie has been on my case since we woke up to put on her karate clothes. Run around in all white all day? I don't think so.
7. Maggie and I are both excited to show our new house to more people tomorrow :)
8. I finally got the chimes on the grandfather clock fixed. Go, me!
9. I am so tired today. We were up late last night, and then it was really bright in our room this morning, so Maggie decided it was time to wake up way earlier than we should have!
10. The view out my office window still kicks butt. Just sayin...
