Tuesday Random Thoughts

randomtuesday

At least I got the day right this week...

Hubby and I are about to sit down and watch Anvil! (at his request...). If you really want to know, I could let you know what I think of it afterward.

I'm going to make myself a pie crust with cinnamon and sugar to enjoy with the movie. Cuz I like it.

Our bathroom is getting closer to done. I think tomorrow is the painting and the tiling. The backer board is up for the tile, but we need to go pick up the mortar yet. The tub and shower walls are in and good to go :) I think we're still going to go pick up accessories yet too (towel rack, toilet paper holder, etc...).

My darn neck? Is hurting again. Can't a girl get a break? More motrin, here I come!

I just heard the shower stop - I think hubby's cleaned up and ready for movie night. I'd better go get my pie crust going! Hope you're having a fun and relaxing evening as well :)

Holiday Summary so far...

Depending on what you call the 'holiday season,' we're at least half if not two-thirds done, right? I figure the big three for our seasons' greetings are Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. Since we've decided to pass slowly and peacefully into the new year, our celebrating is wrapping up :)

Despite my initial apprehensions (and a rather amusing result during an attempt a week earlier), Maggie did quite agreeably sit on Santa's lap last week (after an hour and a half wait, no less...). She had decided when we saw another Santa previously (whose lap she would not go near) to ask for a choo-choo train. Our biggest problem during this picture taking was that she was busy trying to tell the old guy about everything she could see: the fake snow in the show globe; her golden ticket to ride the Polar Express; her mommy; etc, etc. That's why she looks like she's in the middle of a sentence, and he looks like he's holding her hands down. What it looks like is exactly what it was :)

Christmas Eve at my parents' church was also funny. She ended up at the nursery pretty early on. After the service when we went to pick her up, the ladies working there told her, "Your dad and mom are here to get you." Maggie's response? "No fanks." She was having much more fun with her new friends and the unfamiliar toys. The nursery lady did comment on how polite she was.

Christmas morning was time for leisurely opening gifts at home before heading to the in-laws. There she got that awesome book that is recorded by the giver. So it's The Night Before Christmas read by her Uncle Momo, Georg, Grandpamamama and Pat. Very cool. She spent most of her time that day (and in the days since) serving us tea with her tea set and showing us how her disco flashlight works. Along with her dollhouse and Thomas the Train set, these are some of her favorite gifts - she really didn't get anything that she hasn't enjoyed in the days since.

Overall it was a great holiday and I feel so blessed to have seen it through her eyes :)

Progress!

I'm not sure if I mentioned before, but hubby and I are giving each other a new shower in our bathroom for a holiday gift. One shower, of course, we're just bypassing our gifts for each other to get the stuff for it. And hubby (with my dad's help, thankfully!) is in the process of putting it in now.
Yesterday he ripped out the toilet (because it was in the way - he'll put it back after the new shower is in), the tile shower walls and the bathtub.
This morning we got to go choose the new tub, shower walls and plumbing fixtures. Hubby thought he wanted a lighting fixture for inside the actual shower, but I have never seen such an animal, and they didn't have one when we were doing our shopping either. There was the light/fan combo deal, but even that traditionally goes just outside the shower. I just don't see how a light would do well inside a shower, with the humidity and all.
I guess the plumbing was a little more work than they expected - my dad is coming back tomorrow and I think he and hubby are planning to get the rest of the project moving along.
After the new shower/tub are in and the toilet is back in place? Painting!
Hopefully we still find plenty of time for hubby to have fun during his vacation too!

And Relief Goes On?

In case you're wondering, I just thought of that to the tune of 'And the beat goes on...' all by myself. Some allergy relief company is going to want to use it, and I won't make a dime :( Oh well, I'm just happy my headache went away! I'm not sure if it was allergies, or my poor pitiful neck muscles from trying to use the laptop or what, but I'm glad I can turn my head again!

Really? What Does Your Name Say About YOU?

I saw this over at All Stace and Stacie's Madness and I had to follow along and see if mine was as flattering as theirs ;)

Go look up your name on Urban Dictionary. These aren't the definitions you see in the baby name book!

When I looked up my name, Becki, the definition given was:

A 'cuter' abbreviation of the name Rebecca, the 'i' is usually dotted with a heart.

Favored by quiet, sleepy girls who are obsessed with appearing to be normal at all costs; owing to the large number of skeletons in their closet.

What's the meaning of your name?

Saturday Nine

Saturday 9: Sam's Last Stand of 2009

1. What did you think of 2009? Wow. Honestly 2009 was pretty darn rough.

2. What do you think was the news story of the year? Hahahaha...I don't really watch much news. I'm so afraid if I post any of the stories that come to mind, someone will laugh at my ignorance, so I'll leave this one blank. "Better to keep your mouth shut and be thought an idiot than to open your mouth and remove all doubt."

3. What happened this year that you never want to hear another word about? Plenty! Maybe why I don't watch much news. Most of the celeb and entertainment stuff gets annoying fast. Twilight? Yeah, I saw it, but I didn't scream a single time. Just a movie, folks. Jon and Kate? Don't need to feel like a dirty voyeur by being dragged into their personal life non-stop. Tiger? If he slept with everyone who's saying he did, he wouldn't have had any time to play golf! Again, it's his business, not mine.

4. What was your favorite song of 2009?
I'm so stuffed up on holiday carols right now that nothing else comes to mind!

5. What did you accomplish this year? Wow! Most of my 'accomplishments' are actually Maggie's, ya know? Although my chocolate business has been pretty successful, and that's my work!

6. Did you learn anything new this year? Of course!

7. What are you looking forward to in the new year? More fun with Maggie! She'll be turning three in July, and every day she's learning and showing me something new!

8. What are your plans for New Year's Eve? No special plans. And I'm quite okay with that!

9. What's the best thing you ever did on a New Year's Eve?
I usually enjoy whatever I choose to do! Last year hubby took me to see Wicked - what an awesome show!! A few years I spent partying it up at my parents' - that's always fun and low-pressure :)

Tuesday Random Thoughts

randomtuesday

So I sat down, all ambitious about posting again, but now I'm reconsidering this sacrifice of my nap time. Hmm....

If I wasn't blogging or napping, I should probably be wrapping presents. I haven't started yet - whoops!

Holy crap, I just realized it isn't even Tuesday! Enough of these shenanigans - I'd better go do something productive before I lose yet another day!

A Quiz!

I saw this over on iTravel and decided to take the quiz myself :)

You Are a Vintage Christmas Card

You find Christmas to be the most peaceful time of the year. The holidays relax you.

Some people may get stressed out or frazzled, but not you. It's like you're celebrating a completely different holiday.

You take pleasure in the small things the holiday season has to offer. Candy canes. Happy children. Your favorite Christmas music.

Christmas may be more complicated than it used to be, but you refuse to get mixed up in the drama. You're bringing simple holidays back.

19 December 2009

Saturday Nine

Saturday 9: White Christmas

1. If you live where you get winter weather, do you prefer your Christmas to be white? If you never see snow, do you wish for it? I don't mind if it looks white out the window, but I don't like going out in it.

2. How many holiday cards did you receive from people you hadn't sent cards to, after the "mailing deadline?" Did you send a card anyway? I don't know what "mailing deadline" you're referring to....I make a list when I'm ready to send my cards out, and I stick to it.

3. When the clock strikes Midnight on New Year's, will you be at home, at a party, or somewhere else? So far I'm planning to be at home.

4. Have you ever taken the keys and driven home a friend that you felt was too drunk to drive? If not, do you think you would attempt to if that situation ever arose? Haven't done it so far. Now I think I'm getting too old to have such drunk friends. Maybe that means I am the drunk friend. Uh-oh.

5. Tell us about a gift that you either bought or made for someone else that you wanted for yourself! Hmmm...been thinking on this one for a few minutes already. Probably some of the toys I get for my daughter, but I still get to play with them, so it's all good :)

6. What chores do you have left for the holidays?
I still need to finish stuffing the stockings. And laundry is endless, of course...

7. If you could buy one gift for yourself where money was not an obstacle, what would it be? Just one? I'd probably get a new shower like hubby and I are getting for ourselves for the holidays anyway, but if money was not an obstacle, I'd get someone else to install it so hubby could spend more time with us instead :)

8. What is one of your family’s favorite holiday traditions? For my family now we're just getting started, but I'd love to continue doing advent jars with my daughter like I got to do growing up (we open one jar each day in December up til Christmas with a small gift in each).

9. If you could give a fellow blogger a holiday gift, which would it be and what would you give them? Tough one. Should I make my mom exempt, because I'd love to give her anything she wanted :) I'd love to give Kris a way to move to Phoenix ASAP and be with her husband...or the Rudstroms the perfect daughter for their family (without all the legal, time-consuming rigamarole)...or Stacey a fabulous book contract so she wouldn't have to worry about looking for a job and would know how valuable her words are :)

10 Random Things for a Friday

  1. Amaretto Chocolate Cheesecake? Nearly done (I can't put the whipped decorations on the top too early or it may 'weep' before we get to the party..).
  2. Decorated engagement cake? Done (not especially pretty, but done).
  3. Early nap for very cute daughter? On track. She woke up early, so I'm going to try and put her down in the next half hour or so.
  4. My hair and makeup? Uh-oh.
  5. My outfit? See #4.
  6. The house across the street with the holiday lights up since October? They don't actually turn the lights 'on.' Weird.
  7. The Miley Cyrus song in Bolt just brought a tear to my eye. Emotional much?
  8. I should really get going on gif wrapping soon. A good goal would be to have it done before hubby is done with work (Christmas Eve). Oh, and I should do his stuff (including stocking stuffers) while he's actually at work.
  9. We're getting A Charlie Brown Christmas from Netflix today (well, it was supposed to be here yesterday, so it should really, really be here today). Yay!
  10. This morning's funny: First Maggie walked up to the cat's spot on the back of the couch. "Wake up, Audrey!" When I told her Audrey needed her rest, Maggie instead went and got a blanket and covered the cat up. What a nice girl!

17 December 2009

Thursday Thirteen

Thirteen things I should/can/or will accomplish today during my extra long day with Maggie (hubby is going from work to the ski hill for the first outing this season :) )

  1. Clean off counter in kitchen to prepare for cooking.
  2. Run dishwasher
  3. Empty dishwasher.
  4. Make crust of Amaretto Chocolate Cheesecake.
  5. Make & bake filling of Amaretto Chocolate Cheesecake.
  6. Bake chocolate engagement cake.
  7. Empty dryer.
  8. Do another load of laundry.
  9. Get the rest of my gel nails off. Evil things.
  10. Go to post office and mail gift exchange gift (should have been done on Tuesday!).
  11. Take pictures of beautiful new scarf.
  12. Go to Dairy Queen and get ice cream with adorable daughter.
  13. Clean out fridge to make room for Amaretto Chocolate Cheesecake to cool for 12 hours before applying topping tomorrow.

15 December 2009

Someday...

Someday I will make a photo book, and it will work.

But not today.

The promotion I posted on November 30 through American Greetings? Yeah. Apparently they ran out of books before I finished putting together my book for almost two hours.
This promotion has reached its maximum limit. Please view Current Coupon Codes for other ways to save on your order.

Am I going to spend $52.74 on a product that I've never seen the quality of? No. No I will not. I've wasted two hours of my life, I certainly won't waste my money too.

If I decide to go through with the photo book, the most economical one I've seen has been Walgreen's. American Greetings? I've tried your site twice, and twice your codes have failed me. You suck.

Tuesday Random Thoughts

randomtuesday

I wish 7-Eleven had a drive-thru. I wish this quite frequently.

Maggie doesn't seem any more fond of Santa Claus than she was of the Easter Bunny earlier this year. This is not good for photo ops (well, pretty ones, anyway. It's great for amusing ones...).

Grrr....I have yet ANOTHER code for a free photo-book, but the site doesn't seem to be working again (different sites each time, btw). Okay, now the site is finally up. Let me put an hour worth of work in so it can tell me my code is no good. Again.
EDITED: Okay. Seems to be working. If not, there will be a terrible and vicious rant following this post.

Less than two weeks til Christmas! I'm ready enough on 'big' gifts, but I still need more for hubby's and Maggie's stockings! I love those stockings to be busting at the seams!

It's official. I'm not good at making photo books and I don't like it. I thought I had all the pictures I needed already on the computer, but apparently we've saved a bunch to the computer, and a bunch to a removable hard drive. So now I'm switching over to look for more pictures. Wish me luck!

I totally scared the snot out of myself earlier today and thought my debit card had been compromised. In reality I'd just filled my car up with gas and forgotten where I was stopped, so I didn't recognize the charge on my account. Duh.

Decorating for the Holidays

Woo-hoo! It's here - the Decorating for the Holidays blog hop started by The Frugal Housewife.

The holidays, for me, are all about decorating. I don't celebrate a necessarily religious aspect of Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanza/Yule/whatever, but I love the season anyway. People are more focused on good feelings (not counting all the grumpy people I saw at the mall!), and the spirit is ready to be spread! Is it just me, or are there even more outdoor lights this year than usual? I hope so - I love to see them, and this is the first year my two-year-old is really taking notice of them too :)

That being said, our only outdoor lights are a small ornamental maple outside our front door being strung with colored lights. I do make sure our tree is visible out the front window though - don't want the neighbors thinking our lonely outdoor lit tree is like Charlie Brown's Christmas Tree!

Our indoor tree is artificial and pre-lit. I suppose we'll re-evaluate if we need a 'real' tree when our daughter gets old enough to know the difference. I imagine as she gets older the ornament variety will expand as well - currently most of our ornaments are penguins (or as my daughter calls them, pingos). We don't have a lot of other decorations out anymore. Our coffee table has been on the front enclosed porch since you-know-who started walking. Her 'playroom' (otherwise known as our living room) doesn't need another piece of furniture in it! When we have less risk for knick-knacks and such again, I'll probably start bringing up my TONS of Partylite decorations from the basement again.

I also have one kind of favorite way to display really current stuff - like the cards we receive. We have double french doors that lead to our enclosed front porch. Over the door that doesn't open, I have two finishing nails, each with a long piece of red curling ribbon tied to it. These are where I tape our cards. It's fun to see them up all the time and be able to browse through them without them taking up much room.

The last thing I have to share is a tradition I heard about this year from another family (and now I just wish I could remember where I read it!). Someone said they start putting out decorations on November 1, but just one small decoration at a time. Her kids had fun each day trying to find what the new decoration was, and by Thanksgiving and Christmas things looked festive without an all-at-once effort. I definitely want to do this once my daughter is old enough to participate.

I hope you enjoyed hearing about my family's holiday decorations. Please head over to Tips & Treasures, the next blog on the hop!

I LOVE Redbox!

I totally was not planning on this post, but right now I had to just put out there how much I love Redbox!

I went to return Julie & Julia tonight and didn't have a good feeling when I saw the guy in front of me at the machine attempt to return his movie, then walk away still carrying it. Uh-oh! Sure enough, the machine was not accepting anything. No real error message; it just said try again, like I was doing something wrong (c'mon, it's not that complicated!).

I came home hoping to resolve it online, but the form wasn't working. I was optimistic though, as I've had positive experiences any time I've called their 800 number (once for a similar situation, and once to find a box to return a movie when I was out and about across town). The wait was a few minutes, but the representative apologized and explained that this is the busiest night for returns, and of course issues with returns. Makes sense.

Racquel assured me I'd only be charged for last night's rental, and I was fine as long as I returned the movie to any Redbox by Wednesday. She also said she was there if I had any other questions or concerns. And I have to admit I was also happy that she didn't sound like she was in India. She spoke in quick, fluent English and convinced me that she wanted me to be happy with Redbox. Then she thanked me for my business.

Thank you Redbox and Racquel! I'll be back :)

My Twelfth Day of Christmas

Kind of anti-climactic, but I need some warm gloves! Preferably right now, as my wittle fingers are freezing! (Not that I could wear gloves now, in my office, while typing, but still...)
I have a pair of regular knit gloves right now, but I don't think they help much. And something that's a little bit thicker may resist being locked in every button and buckle on the car seat - hopefully!
I liked the gloves hubby found in the house a couple weeks ago, but he had them stuck in the door pocket on the car and they fell out while we were getting in or out last weekend. Now all we have is the right glove. Sad day :(
I'd like a new pair, and I promise to be careful not to lose one!

11 December 2009

10 Random Things for a Friday

  1. Social anxiety is a pain in the butt. A dozen friends just left my house, and I'm sitting here thinking about how I may have offended each and every one. :(
  2. I still haven't decided on a dessert to bring to the holiday party on Sunday (or next Friday, for that matter..).
  3. I really need to settle in my mind tonight/tomorrow what else to get for who for the holidays...hubby's last paycheck between now and Christmas was today. I keep thinking we're mostly done, and we are. But if I forgot anything? Now is the time to remember...
  4. Holiday cards are just about done. I'll get the stamps slapped on 'em so they can go in the mail tomorrow.
  5. I totally meant to get 2 X 3 frames today for a few pictures I have of my niece, but I accidentally got 4 X 6...again. (I think I still have the receipt and was actually considering going back to the store tomorrow. Hmm..)
  6. I'm using a lot of ellipses today...
  7. I think I'll sign Maggie up for gymnastics and swim class starting after the first of the year. Doesn't that sound like fun?
  8. It was hinted this evening that I may enjoy Yo Gabba Gabba a bit too much.
  9. I think there's still food in my kitchen from the party tonight, but I have absolutely zero desire to go deal with it.
  10. Christmas is two weeks from today!

Dentek Custom Comfort Floss

Thought I'd sneak in something besides another wish list ;) Today I'm posting about something I already got - Dentek complete clean floss. It's a dental floss, but there's a super-fine blue thread wrapped around the regular floss part, so it gets in between tight spots even better! Sometimes, with closer teeth, the tape is just too big - this floss is fine enough, but the wrapped part gives it enough texture to get in and get the grungies out. Give it a shot!

This review is a result of a feedback campaign by DenTek Oral Care, Inc. I was asked to give my honest opinion about the product I received. Good reviews were not incentivized and poor reviews will not be censored for the opinion of the product.

My Eleventh Day of Christmas

If I'm gonna dream, dream big, right? I would love to have a new camera. For a while I had a fantastic Canon Rebel, but it used that archaic stuff, film. A digital of a very similar camera would rock my socks. I admittedly am not sure about what features/options/etc I want, but this looks similar to what I'm after. By no means am I anywhere near the mad skillz of my professional photographer friends, but I think my pictures could look a little better if I had a camera that did a little better in the first place. Only one way to find out! Santa?

My Tenth Day of Christmas

I would love to have new bedding! I only took a few minutes to browse, but I really like the look of this set from Brylane Home. And it's on sale - what are the odds? The set we have right now is the one we registered for when we got married in 2006. There are some beaded sections and stuff on it that are just falling apart. Something with just one fabric/design would also be easier to clean. I'm afraid to put our old set in the wash - it would be the last of the beads!

If hubby doesn't agree, we certainly don't need this exact set, but it still would be nice to have some new. Oh, and if we make it that far? An extra set of sheets to match it too would be handy. If Santa thinks we've been REALLY good, we've got two windows that could use the matching drapes and valances as well ;)

See, Mom? We all want prettier household stuff!

Wordless Wednesday

My Ninth Day of Christmas

I've been looking for a new perfume. Now is the ideal time, because I know I never buy perfume for myself! Hubby got me some last year that I asked for, and it will run out before the end of 2010, so I'd better plan ahead, right? I smelled a sample of Ed Hardy Hearts and Daggers in a magazine yesterday and decided I like it. I don't like anything too floral, more of a spicy and subtle fragrance. What's your favorite?

Tuesday Random Thoughts

randomtuesday

You know how your momma always said if you didn't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all? I'm having a hard time saying anything at all tonight ;)

There is a house across the street from me, and a few doors down, that used to have one of those plastic lit penguins as part of their holiday decorations. The best part was that the penguin was always high up in the tree in their front yard. Last year the penguin never showed up. This year, still no penguin :( I really miss the penguin in the tree.

Made progress on the cleaning up list for the week today. Sifting through my accumulated pile of stuff-that-made-it-out-of-the-car-and-JUST-inside-the-door. Everyone has a pile like that, right? So far I'm finding some decent coupons, stickers, catalogs (about half to keep and half to 'recycle'), and Maggie's sunglasses!

Found two delicious looking recipes for using the Betty Crocker cookie mixes I got for my House Party this weekend - Snickerdoodles with the sugar cookie mix and Peanut Butter Candy Bars with the peanut butter cookie mix! YUM!

Maggie did the most adorable thing for my parents last weekend. She kept saying, "Nice to meet you," and shaking their hands, then saying, "Good bye!" and waving as she walked away with her suitcase. Do you think she'd do it for her dad or me? Nope, of course not. But as I was making dinner tonight I heard, "Nice to meet you," and looked into the living room to see her standing on her toy box in front of the mirror on the wall, shaking hands with our life-size penguin decoration. Goofy kid.

My Eighth Day of Christmas

No pictures today, folks. I need some 'unmentionables' (bras, that is). I ordered a couple a month or so ago and have been happy with them, but I miss the days when I had a bunch of sets of nice stuff. Beauty comes from the inside, right? There's another layer between my soul and my clothes ;)

My Seventh Day of Christmas

PJs! Hubby commented the other day that my hoodie and old PJ penguin pants don't exactly inspire passion. Go figure. But I'm not wearing some slinky lil thing - it's COLD when we first go in our room to go to bed! I'm hoping these long-john style ones are made to be cozy! I also liked the Sleepover Flannel PJs, especially in the pink toile pattern.
I'm afraid they're still not exactly 'sexy,' but I also don't think shivering is a turn-on, right?

06 December 2009

St Nicholas Day!

Don't forget - tonight's the night! (Okay, according to Wikipedia last night was the night, but I trusted hubby til I went looking for the legend to pass along.)

Well, whatever night it is/was, we learned while we were in Germany that you're supposed to leave your shoes outside the door and St Nicholas will come and fill them with treats, or maybe modern office furniture if you ask really nicely - and have big shoes...

Whichever it is, we put Maggie's boots (because there were the biggest shoes she owns) outside her bedroom door tonight, and I bet they'll be filled with goodies come morning. :)

My Sixth Day of Christmas

Whoops - I'm running a little late today!
I'm perpetually cold, so instead of wearing my black turtlenecks every day, I'm trying something new this year. I'm wearing scarves with my layered t-shirts. Yeah, fancy pants me, eh? The scarves I've pictured here are from Target, but neither of them are available online. They may still be in the stores. I just posted up the pictures to show some that looked cozy to me. Hand-knit would be cool too - just nice long, thick-ish scarves to keep me warm!

My Fifth Day of Christmas

So this one is mostly for hubby - he's the only one who should be buying me diamonds, right? These diamond earrings I think are actually a little bigger than the next pair I want. I have multiple piercings in each ear and I'm putting graduated diamonds with the smallest at the top and bigger ones on the way down (there are three holes on one side and four on the other). So far I've got one itty bitty diamond and one big diamond in one ear, and a matching big diamond in the other ear. I don't want one any bigger, so I need one between the itty bitty and the big. Oh, the problems I have, eh? :P

My Fourth Day of Christmas

The fourth item on my list is a little more specific than it needs to be. I need a good make-up primer. This Twilight Freshface Glow was recommended in some magazine I've read lately (maybe Parents?). Anyway, if you have another suggestion, please drop it here!

And if this is what you're good at, I'm also searching for a great under-eye moisturizer. I'm using Oil of Olay's 7-something right now, but even putting it on multiple times a day isn't alleviating the dry skin under my left eye. Yes, just my left eye. What can I say, apparently I'm a freak.

My Third Day of Christmas

This? Is just too perfect for me. A hooded sweatshirt (which I love to wear almost every day, except I only own two) - and this one already says, "Maggie's Mommy." Yup. That's me. This looks like it would fit in a medium, but over other stuff would probably be perfectly cozy in a large.
I actually browsed and browsed at Cafe Press for a hooded sweatshirt that would say something I'd want to say. I looked at all the natural birth ones, and the breastfeeding support ones. There were a few that looked decent, but Maggie's Mommy was the truest one there :)

My Second Day of Christmas

Okay - in all honesty, they don't have to be these exact pants, but I need at least one more pair of work pants.

My 'usual' job (chasing Maggie!) has me wearing jeans most days, but my chocolate job requires me to dress it up just a notch. I have one pair of khaki pants that currently fit me okay (translation: not like a sausage casing), and I'd like to have a black pair handy as well. I wear long skirts to some meetings and events, but a skirt is just not convenient for an actual show, where I haul in my bags, and unpack, display, move around passing samples, re-pack, all ideally while keeping my underwear under wraps.

Okay, yeah, so back on track...I'd like to wish for a pair of black pants. Not too dressy, but no denim for sure!

Tuesday Random Thoughts

randomtuesday

It's a sign. At my networking meeting tonight, they asked for our goals for 2010. I haven't given it a lot of thought, so I went with building my team for my chocolate business. I got home and there's a message from the company in my inbox. They're offering a business kit (what someone needs to start their own chocolate biz) for just $79 in December! How many people would rather start for $79 than $149? And begin making money right away? Heck yeah! They must have heard what I was planning to do... ;)

I've been looking at a Williams Sonoma gift card on my desk for a month or so. It ended up on my desk after I cleaned out my purse. The gift card? Is very old. I'm going to see how agreeable Maggie and I are to maybe heading to the mall tomorrow to check the value, and spend it if there is any. Or maybe I'll just call them. (Wow - that motivation slipped away QUICKLY!)

The holiday decorations have made it upstairs to our kitchen so far. I keep meaning to put them up, but I can't get Maggie to agree. I've gotten like one thing out of the box each day, then Maggie is so enchanted with it she doesn't want me to leave her side or actually display the item and get another one out. At this rate, we should have started in August.

Cute Maggie-ism: She walked up to me with her maraca that she pretends is a microphone and told me to say my name. When I said, "Becki," she corrected me. "No. Say, 'My name Mommy.'" Got it.

Oops - I've been all chilling out and surfing since my meeting, and I really should be doing the labels for our holiday cards. And then buying 150 stamps. Gulp.

My First Day of Christmas

That's right - it's DECEMBER FIRST!!

The Body Shop's Hemp Hand Protector has made it on and off my wish list - mostly because I don't want to wait until December 25 to have it! It is awesome! I don't think hubby's exceptionally fond of the smell, but I really like it. My hands have been getting so dry lately - they were definitely softer back when I worked in an office and could put hand lotion on 50 times a day during phone calls. I don't get those kind of 'breaks' as a mom! I'm at the very bottom of the tube of this that I got for hubby in his stocking last year (or maybe even the year before?) - I need my own full one, and fast!

When I looked it up and wrote this post, it's on sale for only $9 (more than half off!), plus flat rate shipping is only $2 - can you see why I almost just bought it for myself instead of typing all this out to put it on my list? I highly recommend The Body Shop's Hemp Hand Protector (and I unfortunately have not been given a free sample or any other compensation to say all this!).
